Stepping out of Recovery Girl's office, you felt a sense of relief wash over you. The warmth and comfort of the nurse's room lingered in the back of your mind, but now it was time to refocus. You headed toward the showers, the thought of hot water and a few moments of peace giving you something to look forward to.
As soon as the water hit your skin, you could feel the tension start to fade, your muscles relaxing as the steam rose around you. It was a welcome break from the constant whirlwind of thoughts that had been racing through your mind lately. Each drop seemed to wash away some of the frustration that had been building up inside, and you found yourself thinking more clearly about what needed to be done. The memory of your last encounter with All Might played over in your mind. Instead of showing him support, you let your anger get the best of you, and now, in hindsight, you couldn't help but cringe at how you'd handled things.
"What was I even thinking?" you muttered under your breath, mentally scolding yourself as you rinsed the shampoo from your hair. You knew you owed him an apology, but the thought of how to approach it was enough to make your chest tighten. Should you come up with a plan or just speak from the heart? You didn't want to overthink it, but at the same time, you didn't want to sound rehearsed or fake either. All Might deserved sincerity, and you needed to find the right way to show him that.
After drying off and getting dressed, you practiced a few lines in front of the mirror, but nothing felt right. Every word that came out sounded awkward or forced, and you quickly realized that trying to rehearse this conversation wasn't helping at all. Glancing at the clock, you still had time before class started, but a small part of you wondered if you should just go find him now. What if he needed you? Then again, maybe he needed space. You took a deep breath and decided to wait until after class. You'd talk to him, but you needed to be patient with yourself—and with him.
With that decision made, you left the showers feeling a bit more resolved, but the sense of unease that had been creeping up on you over the past few days was still there, lingering just beneath the surface. UA's halls were mostly empty this early, and though you knew the school's security was tight, there was something about the quiet that felt unsettling. You brushed the thought aside as you walked down the hall, only to hear a sharp voice call your name from behind.
You sighed, recognizing that voice immediately. As you turned around, the sight of Bakugo Katsuki standing there with his arms crossed and his usual scowl on his face greeted you. "Wow, you look like shit," he sneered, his tone dripping with mockery.
Rolling your eyes, you shot back, "Thanks for the compliment, Bakugo. Just what I needed to hear from you today." His words cut deeper than you wanted to admit, but you weren't about to let him see that. He had a way of pushing your buttons, and the urge to punch him in the face was strong, but you forced yourself to stay calm. "Asshole," you muttered under your breath.
Bakugo's eyes narrowed, clearly taken aback by your sudden retort. His usual cocky smirk faltered, replaced by a look of irritation. "You think you can just talk to me like that?"
"Why not?" you snapped back, crossing your arms in defiance. "You've been a jerk to me since day one. What's your problem? Can't handle a little honesty?" The words came out harsher than you expected, but you didn't regret them. You were tired of his constant badgering, and today wasn't the day to hold back.
Bakugo scoffed, letting out a sharp, humorless laugh. "Honesty? Please. You're the one who can't handle the truth. I know you're hiding something."
You raised an eyebrow, a sarcastic smirk tugging at your lips. "Oh, really? Is this where you get all dramatic and demand that I reveal my big, mysterious secret? What do you want from me, Bakugo? A confession? You act like I'm some kind of villain or something."
