*Hansol's POV*
There was a loud blaring noise. I presumed that the base was getting attacked. My eyes snapped open, and I sat up quickly. I screamed loudly. "Kris!!!" I screamed. I got off the bed quickly, and rushed over to Kris. Leaping into his arms, he pulled out a gun. The enemy had knocked the door down, and were nearing Kris and me. My brother held the gun at the enemy. "Keep away from my brother!" He yelled, shooting the enemy. He picked me up, and ran out the door. He ran for a while, then tripped. I went flying across the floor, grazing my elbows. "Kris!" I exclaimed as the enemy pulled Kris' head up by his hair. I was held back by two big buff Americans. The other man that had Kris, held a gun to my brother's head. "No!!" I screamed. He pulled the trigger. Kris' skull smashed open, and bits of his flesh flew in all directions. No noise came out of Kris' mouth as the bullet penetrated his head. His body fell to the ground, lifelessly.
I screamed loudly and was suddenly awake, and breathing fast. "Hansol!" A voice called. "Are you okay?" It asked. I turned toward it, and saw Jay, Min-Min and Kwon standing there. "I'm fine." I sobbed. Jay pulled me in close to his body. For some odd reason, I felt safe in Jay's arms. He tightly held me, as I drifted back to sleep. I slowly closed my eyes, and back into my dream state as Min-Min sang me to sleep. I could hear the words beautifully, and clearly.
We were sitting in the cafeteria the next morning, and a big butch man with many tattoos came thundering up to us. His arms were huge, and he didn't look Korean. He was holding a large crow bar. He grabbed hold of Min-Min's shirt and threw the 12 year old across the ground. Swinging the bar above his head, he hit the young boy. Min-Min squealed in pain as the large metal pole hit his stomach, the bar ripped apart his flesh. Blood poured to the ground. As he kept hitting the boy, I ran over. Without thinking, I threw a punch at the man's face. His head flung to the side. He looked at me and yelled something. I couldn't understand, but the other gasped loudly. "Hansol!!! What are you thinking?!" Jay screamed. The man swung the crow bar, ready to strike me. It flew toward my face. If it hit me, I'd be a dead man. I ducked, and the crow bar flung past my head. "Missed." I said, loud enough for the guy to hear. His eyes began to swell with anger. He went to attack me again, but I dodged. Maybe it's been a few years, but I haven't forgotten that I was a black belt in taekwondo. I was a bit rusty, but I wanted to show my opponent that I wasn't going to back down without a fair fight. Then, before I noticed, my fist went flying at the man's face again. He shrieked in pain. There was blood coming from his nose as he backed away slightly. He dropped the crow bar, and walked off grumbling something to himself. That serves him right. "Wow!!" Kwon exclaimed. "You are a super teen Korean!" He said. I smiled, and went to help Min-Min. He smiled slightly. "Thanks." He said. "No problem."
4 Months Later...
I am not enjoying the enemy camp. Min-Min hates it, and always comes back to the dorm crying. Jay is upset too- he keeps getting angry and yelling all the time, and I figured Kwon didn't like it here either, but it was hard to tell. The enemy was always beating up Min-Min, and I hated them for it. He was only 12 years old. He was innocent. A child. I growled slightly. I wished I could do something, but it wasn't the time to do that. I was coming up with an escape plan. I headed back to our dorm, exhausted from the work we'd been doing. My arms felt like they were going to drop off. We get very little food proportions, half a loaf of bread and a bowl of soup. And that was to share with our dorm mates. We let Min-Min have the most, as he was the youngest. We all became quite close, considering the hard work we do. I was nearing my dorm, and quickly scampered to the door. I pulled open the door, and headed inside. Jay was lying on his bed, as usual, Min-Min was crying in the corner and Kwon was drawing on the wall with a piece of bark. I walked over to Min-Min, and knelt down in front of him. "Need a hug?" I said, holding out my arms. He nodded, and quickly crawled into my arms. "It's going to be okay, Min-Min." I said, stroking his hair. His hair was soft, much like a cat's. He had calmed down, and took a deep breath. He pulled away slowly. "Thanks, Hansol. I needed that." He said, wiping his tears. I smiled. "It's all good, I'm always here if you need one." I replied. He walked over to Kwon, and smiled. "Wow!! Nice art Kwon-ie!" He exclaimed. I turned to see a massive drawing of a bear on our wall. It was really something. I had never seen such amazing art before. "Wow, he's right Kwon. That's amazing." I said in awe of the art on our wall. He turned and smiled. "Thanks. I like to draw when I am upset, it helps me calm down." He said. I quite liked Kwon, even though he was quiet. When I say quiet, I mean really quiet. I remember when I came back to the dorm one day, and it was only Kwon and I- I attempted to speak with him, but it was like speaking with a brick wall. He only replied with nodding, or shaking his head. Though, Kwon has begun to warm up to me. Which is a good thing. I also have been planning our escape. Jay is the only one out of my dorm mates who knew.
"Yo, Hansol, you okay, mate?" Jay exclaimed, cutting my train of thought. I nodded. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just thinking." I replied, smiling. He sat up, and gestured for me to go sit with him. The speaker on the wall suddenly cracked. "Kwon and Min-Min to Section J32, please. Thank you." It said. Kwon dropped his bark, and walked out the dorm, with Min-Min in tow. "Be careful." I said, looking to them. Min-Min smiled. "We'll be fine." Kwon said. They both left, closing the door behind them. I was worried. Jay obviously sensed it, and put his arm around me. "So, you been thinking about our escape?" He asked, as he removed his arm from around me. I nodded. I was wondering if we could use the underground tunnels that lead out of Seoul. They were in the drains, but it was a perfect escape route. "Yes. I have been wondering if..." I began. I heard a scream. It was Min-Min. We both stood, and ran toward the door, quickly opening it. Jay and I ran down the hallway, darting around corners to section J32. There they were. The enemy was hitting Min-Min, and there was a little bit of blood running down his front. Kwon was trying to help, but was being held back by his arms. He was screaming loudly. That's when I had the craziest idea.
