chapter 24 ~ Eventful Night
Knock Knock
Saint turned her head towards the door, "Who's there?" she asked but there was no answer. Oliver's eyes turned purple and he immediately growled at the door.
"What's wrong?" Saint placed her hand on his shoulder but he ignored her. Oliver was using his instincts to tell him what was behind that door and he can feel a box filled with flowers but it's wasn't ordinary flowers, it was wolfsbane.
"My wolf instincts are telling me that there's a box outside filled with wolfsbane and I don't like it." Saint furrowed her eyes brows together and stood up to get the parcel.
She looked outside the door and nobody was there, she quickly took the box and locked the door.
"Before I open this box, please explain what wolfsbane is to me." Saint placed the box on the table and sat beside Oliver again.
Oliver sighed and started to explain the history of Wolfsbane. Wolfsbane is an extremely deadly flower to werewolves and in the past when werewolves were being hunted, hunters would use Wolfsbane bullets to shoot and kill werewolves. Wolfsbane bullets had tiny cartilages where pieces of the flower would be placed in, and if a werewolf got shot then they would only have forty-eight hours to live unless they had the flower to heal them. They had to burn the flower and put it in their wound so they could finally heal but it was an excruciating process.
"Considering the fact that growing Wolfsbane or even having it outside of the Lunar empire is illegal, I'm highly concerned as to who sent this parcel to you." Oliver scrunched up his nose.
Saint eyes the box hesitantly, "Shouldn't we get someone certified to open the box?" Oliver nodded.
Saint took out her phone and called Phoenix.
"Good day, my king!" Phoenix said enthusiastically.
"Not anymore, someone sent me a parcel filled with Wolfsbane and I don't know really know what else is inside of it. Oliver can't touch it because he's a wolf and" Saint was cut off by the Captain.
"Breathe. Don't touch the box, just leave it there. I'll have someone retrieve the box and have it scanned, I'll also look at the cameras as to who placed the box there because it's weird if one of your servants just left it there without a word. For now, I'll have security with you until we find out who did this." he said through the phone.
"Thank you Phoenix." Saint hung up the phone and hugged Oliver close to her.
Phoenix put on his beret with the golden sun on it and contacted the Castle Surveillance team while going into the Risers headquarters.
"I need you to send me the footage of the hallway where the King's bedroom is, it's an emergency." Phoenix said hastily before hanging up the phone.
"Risers assemble!" he commanded and all the Risers immediately got in line.
Victoria approached her brother with a worried look on her face, "What's going on?" she asked.
"The king has been sent a mysterious parcel filled with wolfsbane and all of you would know that wolfsbane is extremely deadly to werewolves, you would also know that it's illegal to grow and have Wolfsbane outside of the Lunar Empire, the empire run by werewolves." The other Risers nodded their heads and continued to listen.
"This is classified as a threat towards the king and Prince Oliver until further notice so now I need full security around the castle in case the sender hasn't left yet. Do you understand?!"
The rest of the Risers replied with a loud "Yes, Sir." and saluted at their captain before leaving the headquarters with their suits on.
Phoenix's phone started to ring and it was Victoria, the head of the Science department of the Solar castle.
"This is very bad." Victoria said urgently
Phoenix furrowed his eyebrows, "What happened?"
Victoria took a deep breath before talking, "After scanning the box, there was literally a bomb inside and it only had minutes till it detonated but the bomb squad already stopped it. The most shocking part is that whoever sent the box must be really smart to use wolfsbane as it blocks the scent of anything surrounded by it from werewolves. Which made me think that whoever sent the box must be out to kill Saint and Oliver."
Phoenix slammed his hand on the table in anger, "How the heck did a bomb go through castle security?!"
"That is something I can't explain yet. My team is still studying the box and looking for potential finger prints of the sender." Victoria sighed, "I have to go but I'll update you on what I find." she hung up the phone.
Phoenix put on his suit and started communicating with the other Risers through his helmet.
"I have been informed that this was an attempted terrorist attack, I need the whole army on standby from today onwards. Nobody can go near the king or prince Oliver unless they are security, understood?" Phoenix said as he ran to Saint's and Oliver's bedroom.
Phoenix flipped up his visor and began informing the royals about the information he was told. Oliver was seething with anger, he felt stupid for not smelling the bomb that could have killed them and other innocent lives.
She looked Phoenix in the eye and what she said next shocked him, "When you find out who did this, I want them killed. Until then I want you to put the kingdom on lockdown. I want soldiers guarding the streets because I know that they'll attack my people since they couldn't attack me." she said with angry tears streaming down her face.
"As you wish, your highness." Phoenix stood at attention before saluting at Saint.
Saint locked the door and hugged Oliver tightly, her tears soaking his suit.
"Oliver, please tell your kingdom too. I don't want any innocent lives in danger." Saint sobbed as Oliver held her closer.
"I already did, my darling. I'm sorry I couldn't protect you earlier, I wish I could have smelled the scent of the bomb but the wolfsbane and-" Saint cut him off with a kiss, "It's okay, we're fine now." she smiled at him sadly.
Something hit Saint, "Apollo! We need to tell him what happened!" she exclaimed and ran to get her phone.
"Didn't he go on a vacation with Artemis?" Oliver asked as he changed into more comfortable clothes.
Oliver looked out the window and saw many guards on horses going out of the castle. Their horses weren't normal horses, these were mechanical and they run three times faster than a typical horse.
"Apollo! Thank you for answering," Saint began to tell him what had happened to the kingdom and Apollo sounded angry, extremely angry.
"I'll be there soon to cast the Solar boom, alright?" Apollo assured Saint and hung up the phone.
Saint sighed, "All we gotta do now is wait."
The two royals went to bed, holding each other close as if it was their last night with one another. The captain of the Risers watched the security footage of the king's hallway and he caught the suspect.
"I need everyone to search for this man and get back to me about what you find. He can't be out of the kingdom due to the lockdown." Phoenix told Victoria and she went off to inform the others.
"This is gonna be an eventful night." Phoenix sighed before taking a sip of his coffee.
