"No."
"Yes!"
"No."
"Yes, yes, yes! Nora, you call yourself a fan, but you don't seem like one to me."
"I'm a huge fan! That's why I'm telling you that there is no way on God's green earth that I danced with Shawn Mendes!" I state.
It had been four days since the time I danced with that stranger, and four days of Julie trying to convince me that I had danced with a celebrity.
I was not buying it.
Of course, there was the fact that he looked so familiar nudging me, but I just couldn't see how I could have possibly not known that I was dancing- and flirting with THE Shawn Mendes.
"Maybe it was his sunglasses that threw you off. I almost didn't recognize that it was him either." She says.
Julie, like me, listened to Shawn Mendes on a daily basis. She has his post notifications on, and is probably a much bigger fan than me. What do I mean by that? Well, I wouldn't be surprised if I opened her closet to see a Shawn Mendes shrine is all.
"Still! I would have recognized him!"
"Probably not! People are much different than in social media! Plus, you've never met him before, remember?" She points out to me.
For some reason, I almost open my mouth and argue on the fact that I have met him before, but shut up before I say a word.
The Spain sun was obviously messing with my head if I actually thought I had met Shawn Mendes before.
"First off, 'much different' doesn't make sense. Try using 'very different' next time." I recommend.
Although Julie and the rest of her family were insanely good at English, Spanish was still her first language, so sometimes she had a slip up or two. I wasn't being cocky by correcting her either- she asked that I always tell her when she makes a mistake in her speech.
"Lo siento." My cousin mockingly responds, practically saying that I couldn't change the conversation from this.
"I'm just saying, I would know!"
"Well, when we go to his concert and I meet him, I'm asking if he's danced with any niña bonita lately. And when he says yes, you're in trouble."
The concert was tomorrow, and we were both beyond excited. However the difference was that Julie was meeting him first, and I just had a general admission ticket.
Even though Julie's ticket got her early entry, she swore that we would be standing side by side the moment the concert started, which I highly doubted but didn't call her out on.
"But if you describe me like that, he'll start talking about a different girl."
"!Cállate! You don't give yourself enough credit. Why else would not one, but two guys dance with you that day?"
"Technically, only one actual cute guy."
"Ay, Shawn Mendes is cute!"
"You're drooling, Julie. And I'm not going to say this again, but that was not Shawn Mendes!"
The moment I tell her that, my phone begins to ring, and I get up to see that it was Jen, trying to FaceTime me.
"Jen, you would not believe what my cousin is trying to convince me of right now." I say, skipping the introduction, and she stares at me blankly before her face lights up.
