"Nora, what is Shawn Mendes doing in our hotel room?"

"He's what?!"

It was ten in the morning, and I had gone downstairs for breakfast that the hotel provided while Jen stayed upstairs, having already eaten. Half way through my cereal, though, I got a call from her.

"Good news is I invited him in, so he didn't get in here illegally. Bad news is he's still searching through your suitcase, so God knows what he might find," I practically choke on my Frosted Flakes upon hearing this.

"No I'm not!" Shawn's voice cuts in, distant from the phone. I could imagine that his face was tinted red, and Jen was ready to embarrass him until I came upstairs.

"Okay, I'm coming. Don't ruin his life while I'm gone," I warn her, and she chuckles before ending the call. I hope that meant she wouldn't.

Just then, as I finished up my breakfast, I realized another problem. I was in my pajamas, and not the cute kind. My hair was in a tragically messy bun that I couldn't even pretend looked cute, and I was wearing polk-a-dot slippers.

Great.

If you have no problem dressing like this in front of a bunch of strangers here, you shouldn't have a problem looking like this in front of Shawn, I try to convince myself.

Before I go to my room, I make a pitstop at the bathroom, fixing up my hair and splashing my face with cold water so I looked at least halfway to decent. As I go upstairs, I give myself the pep talk of the century, hyping myself up.

I walk through the beige hallway of the hotel, stopping at my room and inserting the key card. The moment I open the door, I'm beyond confused.

"And? You came into my hotel room," Jen practically yells, not noticing my presence as I shut the door.

"Oh, yeah, and who are you again?" That was Aidan, who was seated on my bed with a mean look in his eyes.

"Who the fuck are you!?" She was heated now, her hands clenched in fists, and I almost grabbed Aidan's arm to pull him away from her. This was a line you didn't want to cross with Jen.

"Hi Nora," Shawn says, an adorable smile on his face.

"Hi Shawn," I respond, showing my bewilderment on my facial expression.

"Nora! Finally, a normal human being," Aidan says, directing venom in his words.

"Normal my fucking-" Jen mumbles, before speaking out loud. "I was normal before you made me consider homicide!"

"Do I want to know?" I ask Shawn, and he shakes his head.

"I'd tell you, but I'm not even sure if I know."

Jen huffs, clutching on to the necklace Caleb got her with her initial on it, and I decide that now would be a good time to break up the fight before the room becomes a crime scene.

"Jen, look at the time," I tell her. She had to get lunch with Caleb and then go to rehearsal, so she'd better start going now.

She notices, and reaches for her purse before looking back at Aidan with fire in her eyes. "This? Not over."

"Please, you haven't even taken me to dinner yet, don't act like we're a thing."

Jen opens her mouth, then shutting it and mumbling a prayer for forgiveness after saying goodbye to me and shutting the door.

"Two days," I tell Aidan, walking over to my suitcase and pulling out my clothes for the day. I matched a pair of green jeans with a white crop top of mine, and still needed to find the right jewelry to match.

"What?" He asks, confused, and I don't respond until I'm out of the bathroom, my clothes changed.

"Maybe three, if you're lucky. But you have two days left on this earth. Enjoy them," I say, and Aidan scoffs.

"That girl is mental."

"That girl will kill you in your sleep," I respond, going back to the bathroom with my mascara.

"She's all talk."

"Famous last words," I point my mascara stick at him before continuing to apply it.

"Maybe, Aidan, you shouldn't have called her a crackhead," Shawn mentions, and my eyes widen.

"That was after she said I looked like I was coming back from a pee-wee soccer game!" He yells in defense, and taking a look at his outfit, I begin to laugh.

"What?" He asks, and I make eye contact with Shawn, who was struggling to keep it in.

"Nothing! I just like to laugh before I start my day. It gets all the good chemicals in your brain, y'know?"

Shawn's eyebrows raise, and he gives me a mocking thumbs up, confirming that the lie was as bad as I thought it was.

"Whatever! I came here to say hi, y'know, cause I thought my friend would miss seeing this gorgeous face. I've got to go, Aidan here has a lunch date!" He announces, referencing to himself in third person.

"With?"

"Brittany," he draws her name out, wiggling his eyebrows.

"God help her," I mumble, loud enough for him to hear, and Shawn laughs quietly.

"You know you want this," he says, pointing at me and narrowing his eyes.

"Only after you win your first tournament," I reply, and this time, Shawn loses it, laughing loudly as Aidan's face goes red.

"I'm kidding!" I tell him, hoping that I didn't actually hurt his feeling, and thankfully, Aidan smiles at me before replacing it with another serious face.

"You mess with the bulls, you get the horns," he tells me threateningly.

"See you after Little League," I mock, and Aidan blows a kiss, then saying that we should hang out sometime before leaving.

"Is Jen actually going to murder him?" Shawn asks, and I shrug, walking over to him.

"Depends if she can fit it in her schedule."

We both look at each other seriously, before I break and grin widely, then reaching out to hug him. He wraps me in his arms, and for a split second I wonder what it would be like to hug him all the time, not just after not seeing him for a while.

"So, where are we going?" Shawn asks after we've separated, and I smile at him. He said he had a plan for today, and I told him that we would have to make a pitstop first.

"My mom said she would make me a batch of her famous cookies- which are delicious, by the way. We've got to pick those up, plus I've got to drop off some stuff I got from Spain. After that, I'm all yours."

Shawn grins. "I like the sound of that."
