[CHAPTER #9]Yeonji's Point Of View
Jimin and I are out in the local town centre to buy something for our required costume. The costume is said to score us higher marks and so we decided to go together to find something that matches. I struggle to think of ideas on what to wear. A dress is too contemporary, which was not the style of our dance. Shorts are too generic and I'm sure that everyone will be wearing them anyways. Gah! I need something, otherwise Jimin will get irritated for being in a women's shop for hours on end.
"So what colours are you thinking?" Jimin asks as we walk into the town centre.
"Hmm. I'm thinking either a dark ish red or black,"
"Black is boring. Let's be original and go with red,"
I nod as we enter the shopping mall. I look around and see that my favourite women's clothing shop is having a sale. I grab Jimin's arm and drag him towards the direction of the shop.
The summer clothes are still out, which was quite a relief because summer clothes have the best style. Too bad everything is so flowery. I want to puke. I wouldn't class myself as a girly-girl. Flowers and patterns are not my thing. I'm more minimalistic and plain. My Eomma always told me that the plain and simple would win the most hearts.
"Onji-ah, how about this?" Jimin suggests holding up a red bodycon dress.
"Yah! You expect me to dance in that? Can I even breathe in that thing?"
He laughs at my sudden outburst of anger and puts it back on the clothing rack.
"I'm kidding, Onji, but in all seriousness, we need to actually find something," he orders as I continue routing through clothes. Tsk, he doesn't understand how difficult it is to buy clothes.
And then I see it.
The perfect costume that is being modelled by a mannequin. I run over to the stand, dragging Jimin along behind me. It's a crimson coloured and sleeveless jumpsuit with spaghetti straps. It has a low v-neck and hugs the body just right at the waist. The trouser legs come just above the ankle and flare out a little. It's perfect.
"This is the one, Jimin-ssi. I want this one!" I yell in excitement.
I go through the rack looking for the size that I need. Yes, there is one size left. I take it off the rack, but feel a resistance pulling back.
"What are you doing?"
I look up to see Naejin on the other side of the rack, holding the other end of the hanger with the suit on it. I guess we have the same style in clothing. Either way, I need this jumpsuit.
"Sorry, I found this first, so I would appreciate it if you let go," I say politely, slowly tugging the hanger. She pulls back.
"Well I need this more than you do, so I would appreciate it if you let go," she argues, tugging the hanger harder.
