The Zombie Apocalypse (Zack Merrick/All Time Low)

Chapter 4

~Nalah's POV

Jack was barrelling down the highway following the campervan. We were driving on the opposite side of the highway, the one that takes you into the city but it was completely empty. The one that takes you out the city was littered with broken cars. A couple of zombies were scraping around on the other side of the highway and moaned as we passed them. Suddenly, the car stopped, I jerked forward and smacked my head off the glass.

"Ow, motherfucker." I hiss as I hold my head.

"Sorry, but there's someone out there and I mean a human." I lift my head and stare out the window. We see a girl shrieking as five zombies are chasing her on the other side of the highway. I grab my katana sword, put on my belt and slip a loaded hand gun and two hunting knives.

"Stay here, alert the others and make sure Lucy doesn't follow me." I instruct Jack. He nods his head and beeps the car horn. I'd have thought the car horn would alert the zombies but they were more interested in the girl than the noise. I took track running when I was in high school so I was  relatively fast runner. I hold my katana sword in my right hand and stat running. I see the girl turn, switch highways and see her barrelling towards me.

"Oh thank god. Someone that's not dead." She says in relief as she gets closer to me.

"Do you have any weapons?" I ask her. She shakes her head and I give her one of my hunting knives. She smiles at me gratefully and we prepare ourselves as the zombies approach us. We were lucky that they were quite slow. I start spinning my sword and swipe the first zombie's head off as it got too close for comfort. The girl goes forward and drives the hunting knife into another zombies skull. I slice off another two zombies heads whilst the girl stabs the final zombie in the head which makes a gurgling noise then collapses to the ground. She girl forces the knife out of the zombies head then hands it back to me.

"Thanks for the knife." She says.

"No problem. The name's Nalah."

"Maggie. Nice to meet you." She offers her hand and I shake it.

"Once again, thanks for saving me."

"It's alright. Willing to help any survivors." I smile at Maggie and she smiles back.

"Are you alright? We heard Jack beeping the car horn." Alex heaves as he, Rian and Zack run up towards us.

"I'm fine. I was helping Maggie with a situation." I say and indicate to Maggie beside me.

"Hey, I recognise you guys. All Time Low?" She questions and points to the guys and Zack chuckles.

"Yeah, we are. I mean, we WERE." He says.

"There's always a chance the world can go back to normal, we need to sort of keep our hopes high." Jack says as he and Lucy approach us.

"Hey, who's this? I'm Maggie." Maggie crouches down to Lucy's level and offers her hand. Lucy, who was hiding behind and clutching Jack's leg cautiously looks at Maggie then slowly moves her hand towards her.

"Lucy." Lucy whispers and they shake hands. Maggie smiles at Lucy and stands up.

"Just as well we've stopped, the van broke down." Rian sighs.

"Are you not able to fix it?" I ask.

"Not really, we're not very mechanical." Zack says.

"My father was a mechanic and taught me the basics, I can check if you want?" Maggie asks.

"Yeah, please. That would be great." Rian smiles at Maggie. Maggie and Rian head over to the campervan and the rest of us are left standing in the highway.
