~Nalah's POV

"Rian and Alex are in trouble, we need to go help them." I said after Maggie signed off.

"What's happened? Are they okay?" Jack asked.

"They're with a girl who's hand they had to slice off. Long story, we'll explain later but they're at risk of being ambushed by walkers and the girl needs medical assistance." Maggie said as she rooted through the weapons bag.

"Who's going to go? We still need to keep at least two people here." Lauren said.

"Nalah needs to go because she's studied medicine, I'll go because I know where they are." Maggie replied as she handed me my katana sword and a handgun. I put the handgun under my shirt, putting it in the waistband of my jeans and slipping a hunting knife in the knife holder in my boots.

"I'll go with you two as well, in case we do run into a whole crowd of them." Zack said as he grabbed his hunting rifle and a machete.

"Will you be fine here?" I asked Jack and Lauren as we geared up and Maggie started counting out the ammunition for our chosen guns. Zack climbed into the RV and retrieved the medical kit we had gotten at the beginning of the apocalypse.

"Well be okay, we've got weapons here and we'll stay hidden." Lauren replied and hugged me.

"Stay safe." She said to me as I hugged her back.

"We will, don't worry, we'll make it back by dark." I said. As everyone else exchanged farewells, I moved towards a sleeping Lucy and stroked her hair.

"I won't be here when you get back, be careful." I wwhispered to her and kissed her forehead. Lucy stirred and moaned, turning to the other side and wrapping the cover around her.

"Good luck." Jack said as we made our way down the path.

"Stay safe!" Zack shouted and we eventually made it to the highway.

"Where are we meeting them?" I asked Maggie as we started walking down the empty road.

"Where we removed the road blocks to switch over." Maggie replied. We did run into a couple of walkers along the way but we quickly dusted them off. We made it to where we were meeting Rian and Alex and Maggie started speaking to whoever was on the walkie.

"Nervous?" Zack asked as he placed the medical kit on a car bonnet.

"A little, I haven't done this before so it will be tense." I said as I unzipped the medical kit and started preparing the essential equipment.

"Won't she need anti-rejection serum?" Zack asked.

"She will but we don't have that and judging my how over run the cities are, we won't have much luck at the hospitals. All we can do is give her plenty of painkillers and hope. If not and we have to get rid of the hand completely, we can always make a sort of substitute hand thing and put a knife at the end or something like that." I replied, shrugging my shoulders.

"You really have no idea do you?" Zack asked as he sat on the car bonnet.

"Nope." I bluntly said.

"Right, I've got good news and bad news." Maggie said as she turned off the walkie and made her way towards us.

"Go for it." Zack said.

"The good news is that they managed to cut her hand off and they're on route to here, they should be a few minutes."

"And what's the bad news?" I asked.

"The gunshots from earlier and the girl's screaming attracted a lot of walkers and they're currently being chased by a huge horde of them as they're making their way towards us."
