~Zack's POV
This is one of the most tensest moments of my life. I was trying to stay quiet as not to alert the shuffling walkers below. I have no idea why they were in a huge crowd or where they were going, the main thing we were doing is avoiding them so we don't get eaten. Lucy started whimpering as she saw a walker snarl at something. I wrapped my arm around her and started shushing her to attempt and comfort her.
"Will Nalah be ok?" Lucy whispers.
"Yeah, she'll be fine. We just need to stay quiet." I whisper. I peek over and see that we'll still be here for a while. Quite a few had passed but there were still loads shuffling past. We're definitely screwed if one of us are seen.
~Nalah's POV
I am absolutely terrified. I'm a person that doesn't get scared easily but this one is winning by far. I heard Dallas whimpering from under the van as the walkers shuffled past. I turned to look at Jack and saw that he was frozen stiff. A walker creeped a little closer to where we were hiding, forcing Jack and I to squish close together. It was slightly awkward, but we weren't thinking about that. We were more concerned about staying alive.
The gap between us and the walkers was relatively small and I felt intimidated. What would happen if they got any closer? What about if Jack or I made a sudden movement? Would we hit one of the walkers and attract attention? Many thoughts and questions ran through my head as the walkers shuffled past. Eventually, no more moans are heard and there aren't any scuffling feet. Jack and I look at each other the look at everyone else under the cars. I look up at Zack, waiting for the all clear. His eyes scan the area for a few seconds.
"I don't see anymore heading towards us and the herd that walked past us are quite far away. I think we're clear." He says. We all breathe a sigh of relief and shuffle out from under the vehicles. I look in the direction that the walkers had headed in and see that they're almost out of view.
"That was a close one." Alex sighs as he makes our way towards us.
"That was too close for comfort." Dallas says, Dixon holding her close to him.
"What the hell was that? That isn't normal." Rian said.
"I really don't know what that was but I hope we don't come across something like that again." Maggie said.
"What do we do now? I don't particularly want to stay her much longer after that." Jack says.
"We'll leave as soon as the campervan is fixed and we find another vehicle." I say. Everyone agrees and start looking for vehicles we can use besides Zack and Lucy.
"You alright, Lucy?" I ask, crouching down to her level. She shakes her head and starts trembling.
"No... I got scared. I thought you were going to get caught." She said. I hug her and hold her close to me.
"Everything was going to be fine. If we managed to survive that, we can survive a lot of things." I say and wipe away the tears that were escaping her eyes.
"Zack made me feel a bit better. He hugged me." She said.
"It was no big deal. She got scared and I tried to calm her down which sort of worked." He said, awkwardly rubbing the back of his neck.
"Thank you Zack. I really appreciate it." I say and hug Zack. He seems surprised and shocked for a few seconds before hugging me back. I thought I felt something during the hug, but I wasn't sure. We pull away and stare at each other for a few seconds before we hear a scream.
"Help!" We heard Dallas yell. I grab my katana and instantly start running to where I heard Dallas screaming. I find her after a few seconds and find her surrounded by seven walkers. Her and Dixon were attempting to fight them off but they were failing.
"Zack!" I shout and Zack comes running with a machete in his hand. We start killing the walkers, Zack destroying their heads and I was slicing them off. We dusted off five and Dixon finished off the other two.
"No, no!" I heard Dixon wail. I turn to see him cradling Dallas, who was bleeding rapidly from her neck.
"Did they get her?" Zack asks. Dixon nods, tears spilling from his eyes.
"No Dallas, hon. I can't lose you!" He wails as Dallas starts slowly drifting away.
"Dix, she's going." Harley said sadly. Dixon started shaking his head, getting angry.
"No, she's not! There must be something we can do! Anything! We can save her!" He yells.
"Dixon, you become infected after getting bit. If she was bit in the arm or leg, we could've cut it off. I'm sorry, but we can't save her." I whisper, feeling sorry for him.
"If she dies, I die too." He said with force in his voice. He continued cradling Dallas as she started taking her final breaths. Her breathing turned to gasps then she became silent. All of the teas that Dixon was struggling to hold back started falling freely. Everyone else started running over after hearing the commotion.
"What happened?" Maggie asks.
"Dallas got bit." Harley whispers, earning shocked gasps from Maggie. Even though we hadn't known her long, we were all feeling a little sad after witnessing this.
"Can I have some time alone with her?" Dixon asks us. We nod and walk back to where our vehicles were located.
"This day has turned out pretty shit." Jack said and we all nodded. Suddenly, we heard two gunshots.
"NO!" Harley yelled and ran over to Dixon and Dallas. We all followed and saw the scene in front of us. Dallas and Dixon both had gun wounds in the side of their heads and a handgun was in Dixon's hand. Alex covered Lucy's eyes, I head Maggie vomiting, Harley started uttering nonsense and was swaying on his feet, clearly traumatised, Rian and Jack were staring into space, Zack looked at their bodies in shock and I was standing there, clueless on how to react.
