"Iz,do us a favor and just shut up!"
"So now your giving orders. To your princess?" Isadora replied crossing her arms and raising an eyebrow.
"No! It's just.... it's just....." I trailed off mentally kicking myself for not being able to think of a smart comment.
"That's what I thought", Izzy said before turning on her heel and going over to her horse. I watched her whisper to her horse. Izzy was really good on putting on her 'queen face' she knew when to be professional and it worked well when she was mad.
"What did you say to Isadora?" Will questioned handing me a piece of bread.
"I questioned her authority", I mumbled.
"I'm surprised she is reacting like this. She seems to not want to be queen", Will replied taking a bite of his dinner rations.
"Oh she wants to rule. She lets me get away with a lot. As long as I don't tell her father. But she isn't afraid to pull the queen card", I replied glancing to where Izzy stood finishing her chunk of meat.
"Sounds like fights with princess never end well for you", Viviana said walking to join us.
"No I win sometimes. I just have to watch my words. She holds a lot more on her shoulders then it appears. We only see a fraction of it. When she turns 18 she'll officially have to start training for becoming queen. That means playing by her fathers rules", I said as Izzy yelled at Raziel for standing to close to her mount.
"She won't appreciate that", Will said.
"I know", I said.
"Mount up! We are moving out!" Raziel called glaring at Izzy over his shoulder. She replied with one of her mischievous grins. Raziel rolled his eyes and climbed onto his mount.

I dropped to the rear of the group to ride near Izzy.
"I thought you weren't speaking to me", she said from where she was laying on her horse. She didn't even open one of her eyes as she spoke with her long legs on her horse's neck and her head on the very back of her saddle.
"I decided it was time to talk about this subject" I said nervously glancing at Izzy who still had her eyes closed.
"Oh really. So your calling all the shots now", she said with opening one eye but keeping her head on her hands on the back of the saddle.
"No. I want to stop fighting. We need each other", I said pushing down my irritation.
"What for? You got off fine ignoring me for three days", she said as she propped herself on an elbow and rolled over to face me.
"Well. I don't want to go any longer" I said
"When we were 14 you went four months? Can't do that any longer?"She questioned with a smirk.
"Look. We are coming close to reaching the forbidden. After we sort everything out you'll have to return to our kingdom. You only planned to stay at 'school' for a couple months. After that time is over you will be expected home and that's when your father will get mad. He wants you home in time for your birthday. Once you turn 18 your father will force you to learn the ways of the court" I said growing irritated.
"My father can not force me to do anything! And I know the ways of the court! How could I not?! My father tries to control everything I do! He made me put on a death trap once a week to listen to the ladies of the court gossip about wines and affairs! Then I had to listen to the generals and my father argue over what color should the new dress uniform ties be! I know how to rule if my father wasn't stubborn I would have been making changes. But he can't let that stupid throne go!" Isadora said her voice rising in anger with every word and every time she mentioned her father she practically spit the name like poison. She was in a sitting position now.
I glanced up to the front of the group and noticed they put a small gap between us. "I see where she gets her stubbornness from", I heard Viviana whisper under her breath. I could see in Isadora's face she heard to.
"I know. I just don't know what the future holds", I said defeated knowing Isadora won't forgive right now because of the mood I put her in.
"But the weight of the future rests on my shoulders", Isadora whispered but the words still stung with anger. She turned swinging a leg over her saddle so she was siting the correct way in her saddle and then she closed the gap between her and the rest of the group leaving me trailing behind.
