The two men pondered on their choice of name for their son for a little while but all in all, they decided that it didn't matter. It did not truly mean anything, no matter what the humans believed.
The next few weeks were futile for the two boys. Their whole time was spent solely on the puppy what could not seem to keep itself out of trouble. When they set him on the floor too run and sniff around the compartments, he would run around as fast as his little legs could carry him and knock into thing, making objects fall from tables and bookshelves.
The boys ran after him but couldn't keep up, not because they were slower, but because their cub was so much small and was able to slip out of their grip, thinking that they were playing a game with him.
"Thunder!"
"Lycan no!"
"Come! Come here!"
"Thunder stop that!"
These words were said over and over again through the next few weeks. The puppy only slept for a few hours here and a few hours there which meant that there was not enough sleep in the day or the night for the two new daddies.
"When will he change into a human?" Castiel groaned, face planting the bed. "It will be so much easier just dealing with a baby who can't run around!"
"He's got into the sewing kit..."
"Lycannnnn," Dean dragged the word out hopelessly and picked the puppy up by the scruff so he was now dangling in Deans hand, all four paws scrunched up to his belly while he tongue rolled out of his mouth in a playful grin.
John had named the puppy to the people and there were mixed reviews on the name. Some of the kingdom was in shock, part of them really liked the name and the others were slightly uncomfortable with it, yet it was too late to change it now. Besides, the two husbands generally really loved the name and thought that it suited their son.
He was a rascal, and every time Dean would leave the door to the compartments open the round little fluffball bolted out of the doors and ran around the castle as fast as its little legs could carry him.
Many a time Dean and Castiel would run after him, spending hours and hours chasing him and trying to find him. Almost all of the time, one of the guards or servants would find him, mostly in the castle kitchens and bring him back. Other times however; the servants wouldn't tell the husbands where he was and fill the little puppy up with cakes and pastries while he sniffed around the kitchen and snuggled up on the hearth next to the blazing fire.
Dean wanted to rebuke the servants but Castiel always stopped him, smiling as he picked up his sleeping puppy and thanked the cooks and maids for looking after him.
It took them a few weeks to just let the puppy run out and down to the kitchens as that is where they knew he would go and just let him be. Dean wanted to go after him but once again Castiel stopped him.
"He's going to keep doing it dean, and being down there won't do him any harm. In fact, it will make the servants and guards love him all the more because they are spending time with him." Castiel explained.
"Yeah but look at him, cas." Dean complained. "All the cakes they are giving him are making him fat!"
Castiel didn't say a word but only poked Deans belly and smiled before walking away and towards the castle library where he was going to talk to the scribe about translations.

"He's ageing well." John observed as they all sat down at the large table and awaited their dinner as they turned and stared at the now growing puppy who was gnawing on the throne. "When he turns into a human he will be a toddlers age."
