Castiel hadn't spoken to Dean in over a week. He had gone back to his books and cooking and even when Dean entered the kitchen on the early mornings where Castiel would be frying eggs and bacon, he took once glance at Dean, quickly put out breakfast and left the room, leaving his untouched.

Even though this was happening however, something inside of Dean suddenly changed. He was suddenly over-protective over Cas and always wanted to know what he was doing and where he was going, but also knew he had to give the omega some space from him. It was itching on Dean's last nerve to the point where he wanted to follow the omega around like some lost puppy. Why didn't Castiel feel the same way about him? Surely the over-protectiveness should have happened to Castiel too as they were both mated now?

But no. Castiel was in the frame of mind where he would completely ignore Dean's every mood. The alpha started hanging out with his friends more again and there was no interruption from Castiel bursting into the hall anymore.

"Hey, Dean." Jo, a blonde omega says, smiling slightly and nudging him in the arm. "You alright, you look as if your head is about to set fire from thinking so hard? Don't strain yourself love."

"I'm fine, Jo." Dean sighs and rubs his eyes tiredly. "Just omega problems."

"Cas not leaving you alone now that you're mated?" She joked and Dean shook his head.

"No. That's the thing, he's doing the complete opposite. I haven't properly seen him in weeks. Whenever I do see him, he runs away as if he's scared or embarrassed. I've tried to talk to him about it but he just turns around and walks away as if he doesn't want to know." Dean explains, frowning as he does so.

Jo frowns along with him, obviously confused by what Dean was saying.

"Huh," She says after he finally finishes. "That's not normal, is it? Surely he should be all over you now."

"Yeah, that's what i thought. Maybe it's different because he's a different kind of omega. I don't know, Jo."

"Maybe he is all over you but is too embarrassed to show it." Jo suggests but Dean shakes his head.

"I doubt it. I can't imagine Castiel being the kind of person who would be embarrassed about showing affection to his mate. He's embarrassed about the idea of sex and stuff, but not about affection. Take the other week for example, he wasn't embarrassed at all to come barging into the hall to tell me to go to bed with him."

Jo thought a little harder and hummed along before shrugging.

"I don't know what to suggest, Dean. You could always try and make him jealous to see if he really does care but i don't know if that-"

"That's a great idea!"

"Dean-"

"We will do that. Come on." He grabs a hold of her hand as she outrageously objects, trying to pull herself away from Dean. They end up outside of Dean and Castiel's compartments and she stops him and whips her hand away.

"Dean, as much as i want to help you, Castiel is THE ORIGINAL OMEGA!" She whisper shouts, worried that Castiel could hear her from the other side of the door. Dean just looked back at her in confusion. She sighs and carries on. "He's like the alpha of omegas, Dean and guess what, i'm an omega. I really don't want to be on the wrong side of your husband. I don't know what he will do."

"He won't do anything, Jo." Dean grins and rolls his eyes. "Besides, he has to do whatever I say. That's what happens when an omega and alpha mate, right? The omega does whatever the alpha says without question."

"That's a bit sexist, Dean." Jo grimaces. "But generally, yeah. So why don't you just tell him to talk to you, using your stupid alpha powers."

"Because... i don't want to use that on him. He should be allowed to make his own choices." Dean sighs and looks down at his hands. "Please, Jo. I really need this."
