"I missed you Helly Belly. What'd you do last month that kept you from hanging out with me?" Joe asked while they were on their walk to school.

Helena would never lie to her best friend, but this time, it was probably best that she had. Truthfully, she had spent the last month sleeping, buying new clothes, mentally preparing herself for school and her crush, and watching Joe through her window. Helena knew it was really creepy, but she couldn't help it.

"Um, my mom had me do a lot of schoolwork, so I would get a head start this year. You know those colleges start looking for you early," Helena said, and chuckled nervously. But, Joe seemed to buy it. It wasn't completely untrue, she actually did have to do some schoolwork.

"Oh, that makes sense. Do you know what college you want to go to?" Joe asked as Helena chewed her lip.

"I think I would like to go to Cornell University," Helena said while looking at Joe.

"What about you, Joey?" Helena asked.

"I don't know. I really want and hope this singing thing to make us mega famous or something like that. I don't think college is my scene," Joe explained, and Helena nodded.

"I have a feeling you're going to be mega famous. Just wait Joey McIntyre, you're going to be a household name someday soon," Helena predicted. Joe couldn't help his smile widen every time Helena spoke.

They reached their high school, and Joe opened the door for Helena.

"Wow what a gentleman, Joey, I'm impressed," Helena said sarcastically while walking through the door. Joe jogged to catch up to Helena as she walked into the school.

Helena sighed deeply, "Can you believe it? We're juniors, Joey. One more year, and then we'll be done," Helena said, and Joe grinned at Helena.

"Yeah, it's unbelievable. I'll see you at lunch?" Joe asked, and Helena nodded, still unable to speak.

"Stay safe," Joe said, and he kissed her on the top of her head, "I love you,"

Helena stopped for a minute. She was going to say something, anything, but Joe had already walked away towards his locker. I love you. The kiss on the head. It was too surreal. It wasn't the first time Joe kissed her on her head or said I love you, but Helena had a crush on him now. Everything was different. Helena's heart skipped a beat, and she blushed wildly.

"You look tragic, sweetie," Her other best friend, Kimberly said. Helena glared at her, and Kimberly rolled her eyes.

"Just speaking the truth," Kimberly shrugged, "How long have you liked Joe now? Seven months? And you still haven't told him?"

Helena's shoulders dropped, "Yeah, that's about right." She muttered.

"Hey, chin up, sweetie. We don't let any man keep us down," Kimberly said while lifting Helena's chin with her pointer finger.

"Ugh," Helena groaned.
