Today was the day. It was the day Joe would leave, for months. Helena had tried not to think about it, she tried to make the most of her time with Joe, but now she was forced to face the truth.
Helena lazily walked downstairs, and was met with her mom cooking breakfast.
"Hey, Mom," She said quietly. Helena took a seat at the table, and her mom handed her a plate of hot cakes.
Helena shrugged, "It's just Joey leaving. It's got me bummed out," Helena said while taking a big bite of her breakfast.
Mrs.Westbrook nodded sympathetically, "It's alright, honey. Joe won't be gone for long, he'll come back for breaks and more," She said.
"Still, I got so used to seeing him everyday. It's a big change," Helena muttered. Suddenly, she wasn't hungry anymore. Helena pushed away her plate, and stood up to kiss her mom on the cheek.
"Thanks for breakfast, Mom. I'm going to go say goodbye to Joey," Helena said, and she walked out of her house. It was pretty cold, so she pulled her jean jacket closer to her body. There was a car parked in Joe's driveway, and a man in a suit stood next to the car.
Helena walked past the car and up the path that led to his home. She knocked on his door, and Mrs.McIntyre swung open the door.
"Hello, Helena. Are you here to say goodbye to Joe?" Mrs.McIntyre asked, and Helena nodded while walking inside of the McIntyre's home.
"Helena," Joe said, and Helena looked up to see Joe at the top of the staircase.
"Hi, Joey," Helena said, and Joe walked downstairs with his luggage. He pulled Helena in for a hug. Mrs.McIntyre had left to do something, which left Helena and Joe alone in the foyer. Helena pulled away from the hug, and kissed Joe on the cheek.
"I'm so happy for you," Helena whispered.
Joe sighed, "Helena, I'm happy I'm getting the chance to tour around the world and everything, but I don't know if I can take being away from you,"
A small smile spread across Helena's face,"I'm sure you'll manage," She said.
"I'll call you everyday," He said, and Helena chuckled.
"Joey, do you know how busy you're going to be?" Helena asked.
"I'll always be able to make time for my girl," Joe said.
How'd I get so lucky? Helena thought.
Mrs.McIntyre walked back into the foyer, "Joe, it's time to go,"
Joe looked at Helena, and he grabbed his luggage. They walked out of the house together, and immediately, the man took his luggage to put it in the trunk of the car.
Helena hugged Joe one last time, "I'm going to miss you," Helena said almost inaudibly.
"You're going to make me cry," Joe muttered, and Helena smiled softly.
"I love you, angel," He whispered.
Helena looked up at Joe, "You love me?"
