1989
The second day of school was perhaps the worst day out of the whole year. All the teachers started actually teaching and giving homework, and Helena hated it.
"Okay class, the homework for tonight is being passed out right now. Please, no lame excuses next class about how your fish ate your worksheet or whatever you kids say now," Her teacher said in a monotone voice. The bell rang, and Helena ran out of her English class. She was trying to catch Joe before her next class, so she could talk to him about the start if he year pop quiz Ms.Wilson was giving out. Helena walked quickly towards Joe's locker, but halted when she saw Jennifer talking to him.
Jennifer Saturn was probably the most annoying, bitchy, and popular girl in the school. There's even a rumour that she wasn't even born on Earth, and that's why her last name was Saturn.
Jennifer moved closer to Joe, and Joe did as well. Jennifer laughed at something Joe said, and she put her hand on his arm flirtatiously. Tears welled up in Helena's eyes, seven months of loving Joe, for what? She leaned in, and kissed Joe on the cheek. Helena could see Joe's blush from where she was standing. Jennifer caught Helena's eye, and smirked at her.
"What the hell?" She whispered. She pivoted on one foot, and quickly walked away.
When she reached her locker, Kimberly was already there. She could tell that something was wrong with Helena. Kimberly opened her arms, and Helena hugged her best friend.
"She kissed him on the cheek, Kim. She flirted with him, and she knew that I was staring. That bitch. and Joey liked it too. He was so into it," Helena cried into Kimberly's green jacket. Kimberly gritted her teeth as she realised who Helena was talking about.
"Jennifer?" Kimberly asked, and she felt Helena nod into her shoulder.
"Grody." Kimberly whispered under her breath.
When Helena was released from Kimberly's hug, she wiped away any mascara stains that might've been on her cheeks. Helena heard heels clicking, and Kim's face hardened.
"Shit." Helena cursed. She turned around, and Jennifer was standing right in front of her.
"Listen, I know all about your little crush on Joe. You may have that cute 'girl next door' charm, but you can't give Joe what he needs. Joe will never like you. I don't think you would want the whole school to know about your stupid little crush, so I think it's probably best you stop liking him," Jennifer spat, and started walking away. She stepped on Helena's foot with her heel, and Helena groaned in pain. Kimberly cracked her neck, getting ready to fight Jennifer.
Jennifer laughed, "Down doggy," Jennifer said, and Kimberly glared at Jennifer as she strutted past the two.
"What a mega bitch." Kimberly growled.
