1989

Helena had been thinking about her encounter with Joe the other day. A lot. She replayed the scenario nearly a billion times. She realised that they were both dating people. It wasn't right, even if it felt that way. She couldn't keep playing Jordan like that. He was too much of a good person for that.

Helena's phone rang, and she plopped onto her bed, and picked up the phone lazily.

"Helena Westbrook," She said.

"Hey El, I'm calling you because I'm super bored," Kimberly spoke, and Helena rolled her eyes and chuckled.

"Well, you're in luck, because I need you for something important." Helena said, chewing her lip.

"What seems to be the problem here miss?" Kimberly joked.

"Should I break up with Jordan? He's amazing and such a gentleman, but he could be dating someone that actually loved him. I don't want to waste his time," Helena ranted.

"Honestly? I think you should break up with him. You're right, he's just not for you, and you still have feelings for Joe, right?" Kim spoke.

"How'd you know?"

"You never stop staring at him in the hallway, yesterday you literally cried about him, you always talk about him, and you always have that look plastered on your face, like you're in actual pain seeing Jennifer and him together," Kim explained.

Helena felt deflated, "Yeah, that's about right," She sighed, "Well I guess I'm going to go break up with Jordan now,"

"Okay, El. Good luck, good vibes, and call
me after to tell me how it goes!"

Helena thanked her and then hung up the phone. She picked the phone up yet again, and dialled her boyfriend. While it rang, Helena paced around the room as much as the cord allowed her to. She casually looked through her window, and into Joe's room, which held a sleeping Joe in his bed. Helena smiled, until she realised Jordan picked up the phone.

"Hello?"

"Oh, uh, hey, Jordan," Helena stuttered.

"Hey, babe. is something wrong?" He asked, worried.

"Can I come over?" Helena asked.

"Of course,"

"Okay thanks, see you soon," Helena said and hung up the phone quickly. She slid on her shoes, and left her house. Jordan's house was in the neighbourhood next to Helena, and she was glad that he lived so close. Helena only had her permit, and she still had two months until she'll be able to get her driver's license.

Before she knew it she reached his home. Helena sighed, and walked up the small path leading up to his home. She rang the doorbell, and soon enough Jordan answered the door.

"Hey, babe, come in,"

Helena walked inside Jordan's home, and he quickly kissed her.

"What'd you want to talk about?" He asked.

Helena chewed her lip, and stuttered a couple times.

"Um, I'm not really sure how to say this. I'm really sorry, and I like you, it's just. I can't love you. I am so sorry, but I think we should break up." Helena spoke quietly, and stared at the floor. Jordan didn't say anything, so Helena looked up from the floor, to see his hands on his hips, and that he was holding back tears.

"I thought...I loved you. I do love you," He whispered.

"I'm sorry, so sorry Jordan." Helena spoke.

"Apologies don't mean anything," He laughed through tears, and Helena frowned.

"Is this...about Joey?" Jordan asked, and Helena looked up from the ground.

"Why do you think that?" She spoke, and Jordan scoffed.

"It's so obvious he likes you, and it kind of seems like you do too,"

"Honestly, Jordan? Yeah, it is about Joey. I didn't want to lead you on more than I already was. I thought it'd be easier to break up with you before you went on tour, and it didn't feel right because I do like Joey. I'm sorry if that makes me a bad person, but I just can't," Helena ranted while a tear slipped down her cheek.

Jordan realised she was right.

"I'm sorry," Helena said before she left.

Jordan was heartbroken, but he would not be the only one.
