"Clary." Jocelyn says, rushing up to her cell.
"Mom." She says, taking one hand out of jaces and takes her mom's hand.
"What is going on? Alec didn't tell me anything just that you needed me here right away."
"They think I am valentine morgansterns daughter and that I am a spy for his followers."
Jocelyn takes a deep breath and says, "I was married to valentine morganstern but when I realized what kind of man he really was, I left. I was hoping you would never find out."
Clary stands up and walks to the back of the cell.
"Clary?" Jace says.
"Can you both leave, I want to be alone."
Jace and Jocelyn look at each other then leave clary alone.

"Clarrisa fairchild, you have been found to be the daughter of valentine morganstern." The inquisitor says when clary is brought to them.
"Yes, i am but I didnt know until two days ago."
"That is very hard to believe."
"Excuse me." Jocelyn says, standing up.
"Who are you?" The inquisitor asks.
"I am clarys mom. Yes, valentine morganstern is my ex-husband and therefore clarys father but I left him before clary was born so she never met her father."
"That still does not prove that she is not a spy."
"Don't you think that if she was a spy?" Jace interrupts. "That valentine and especially sebastian morganstern would've gotten away."
"They did get away once."
"Because of hodge Starkweather not clary."
"It just seems too coincidental that the girl you bring into the royal family is the daughter of the one person that wants everyone dead."
"And don't you think that if she was part of valentine's plan that we would all be dead?"
The inquisitor glares at jace and says, "I want this room cleared while we make our decision. Take the prisoner back to the dungeon."

"Well?" Jace asks when alec walks up to him.
"Clary has been cleared, they couldn't find anything linking her with valentine."
"Thank the angel." Jace says, hugging clary as she runs out of the cell.
"How did they find out that he was my father when I didn't even know?"
"When they raided his house, they found all the papers from where him and your mom were married so they just figured it out." Alec says as they walk up the stairs.
