"So." Cat says, laying on Magnus's bed while he is applying his makeup. "Where is alec taking you tonight?"
"I dont know. He never tells me, just tells me how to dress." He sees the confused look on her face in the mirror and continues, "like for our picnic in central park, he told me to dress casual. For the day we went to the bronx zoo, he told me to wear something fun and comfortable. Then when he took me to a club, he said to dress sexy but not too sexy."
"Oh." She says as his phone rings. "Alec?"
"Yeah." Magnus says, smiling as he opens the message.
"What did he say?"
Magnus lays his phone down and says, "He says tonight is black tie."
"Is that bad?"
"Yeah. I don't have a tux and I have no idea where to rent one."
As cat opens the internet on her phone, the doorbell echoes through the loft.
"Magnus bane?" The man at the door says, looking at the paper in his hand.
"Yes."
"I have a delivery for you."
"I didn't order anything."
"Well." He says, handing the box to Magnus. "This is yours."
Magnus closes the door and walks back to his bedroom. He lays the box on the bed and opens it.
"Oh my goodness, cat, look at this."
"That is beautiful." She says, running her hand down the black tux with the purple highlights.
Magnus picks the card up out of the box and smiles as he reads.
I hope I got the right size. I have high hopes that you will look amazing in this. See you tonight at 7.
"Looks like he has something special planned for tonight."
"Looks like it." Magnus says, smiling broadly at cat.
*********
Magnus looks around in awe at the fact that he is about to go into the metropolitan opera house and see his all time favorite opera. He notices alec at the ticket window having a heated conversation with the lady inside. He turns to watch more people arrive when he feels arms snake around his waist.
"You ready to go in?"
"Alexander, I have to ask, how did you get tickets to la boheme? It has been sold out for months."
"My family has season tickets."
"Oh ok." Magnus says as the lights flash and they walk inside.
