"Okay, now's my turn." I gulped down at my food.
Me and Arianna were having lunch together after school at a dinning place near the city center. To keep ourselves entertained and the conversation going, we were taking turns to ask each other questions while eating our burgers and fries.
"Sure." Arianna nodded.
I took a sip out of my coke, then licked my lips before thinking of a question to ask her.
"I've noticed that you sometimes go saying 'oh my'. Is that an alternative way to say 'oh my God'?"
She held out her palm signaling me to wait as she chewed on her bite. Once it went down her throat and into that flat stomach of hers, she spoke.
"Yes it is, actually! Since I'm not religious, I thought that I should limit the use of God's name as much as I can."
"That's good." I nodded. "We shouldn't use it much in our everyday lives as well, anyways. Like, for example these girls that go by screaming omg when they see a hot guy passing by?" I took another bite from my food. "That's not allowed."
"Ah I see." Arianna looked past me, in the back of the room. I noticed her expression changing to a frown before she sighed.
"What is it?" I asked as I turned to take a glance above my shoulder.
I spotted her ex, Hanseol, sitting on a table with his friends and next to him there was a girl. His arm was around her shoulders and they were both smiling to each other.
"Lee Min-Wo." I heard Arianna say and I returned my attention to her.
She seemed angry as her brows were furrowed and she was squeezing her drink so hard that if there was any liquid in it, it would've gone all the way up the straw and spill everywhere.
"I thought you were over this guy." I folded my arms as I leaned my back on the chair's one.
"I am! But come one, seriously? Her? She fucking replaced me with her?" She groaned, emphasizing the antonyms.
I turned back again to observe the girl. She was so thin her bones were showing with the sleeveless dress she was wearing, her hair was short and black and had really big eyes. Her skin was so pale, just like mine.
"She looks like a porcelain doll." I commented. "Creeps me out."
Arianna bursted out laughing.
"See? She's not like me!"
Of course she's not like you.
Suddenly, Arianna stopped laughing. She propped her arm on the table and used it to to support her head, squeezing her cheek in the process. She stared at the girl with a nostalgic look on her pretty face.
"Although I love her skin color." She then faced me. "You have the same pale color, you're se lucky! I wish I had it too but instead I have this tanned one! Why couldn't I take after my mother? I look nothing like a Korean." She pouted.
"Arianna, what the heck? Please tell me you're kidding!" I begged.
"No, I'm not kidding! I really don't get why I was born this way, I swear, I'm a copy of my dad's!" She protested.
"Like that's bad! You're freaking beautiful, Ari, why can't you see that?"
I was ready to comfort her but apparently, her mood swings were way too often today as she jumped up, all of a sudden, and flipped her hair.
"Bitch, I'm not beautiful, I'm fabulous."
It was my turn to laugh and heck I did it. But of course, soundlessly.
