Chapter 21- I Still Love You

AN: Wow guys! I am so happy with all of your comments and it was so hard for me to pick my favorite comment this week. But I decided that was my favorite to read. I can't wait to see what you guys have to say to this chapter!

Previously On Number 11

"I was mad Abbi because I thought you were making your decisions as my girlfriend and not as a trainer,"Julian said. I knew he was trying to explain himself but all he was doing was making me madder.

"So are you saying that I am not capable of being your girlfriend and your trainer. Well if that's how you really feel then I guess we won't be getting back together!" I yelled standing up and slamming my hands on my desk.

"Damnit Abbi! Stop putting words in my mouth. I never said you weren't good at your job. And I do want to get together because I love you Abbi Belichick."

Present

Week 9

Record 5-2 (2 days before game)

3 ½ weeks since break up.

"Julian, I can't do this," I watched his face fall and immediately his eyes turned from the blue I love to a stone cold grey.

"Why Abbi? I know I screwed up, but I want to make it up to you. I didn't mean to say that I promise,"Julian pleaded and part of me was surprised he wasn't on his hands and knees the way he was groveling.

"We can't be a couple during the season. We should have waited and started dating after the season was over, not during it. It is too hard for us to be able to do our jobs and to be together romantically,"I explained. My heart was breaking with every word. I wanted to be with Julian so bad, but I knew if we stayed together our relationship wasn't going to be healthy.

"So what do we do. Not being with you is going to be hard for me Abbi, but not having you in my life might kill me. We haven't spent this much time apart in years and I can't take another minute of you being mad at me and not being my best friend,"It was a compromise, but it was one that was going to have to happen. I couldn't live without Julian either.

"I am going to continue to stay with Rob for now because I don't trust us alone together so soon after breaking up. When we go away I will stay in a separate room. We can start hanging out again, but we can't cross that line Jules. We have to be just friends for now,"He nodded along to my conditions agreeing with all of them.

"I agree with all of that, but let me tell you one thing. Once we win the Super Bowl this year I am going to get you back Abbi. Don't have any doubts about that,"He came around from behind my desk and came to stand behind me. Normally after making up back when we were friends we would hug, but I knew he was looking for my confirmation before doing so.

"You can hug me Julian,"He grinned at me before wrapping me up in his arms. My heart jumped as I inhaled his scent. When Luke held me it felt nothing like the safety I felt in Julian's arms.

"I just have one last question for you,"Julian said as he stood in the doorway of my office to leave.

"Fire away,"I said as I started pulling my laptop out of my bags. I had no idea what Julian was going to ask me.

"Are you dating Luke?"His words stopped my actions and I didn't make eye contact at all. I didn't know what to say.

"We aren't dating, but I'm not single,"I tried to say in an even tone. I didn't want to tell him that Luke and I were just friends with benefits, but based on the flash of hurt in his eyes he figured it out.

"That's great Abs. I hope you are happy," He smiled at me, but I knew it was hurting him knowing I was with a guy let alone another football player.
