James and I continued to avoid each other. He sat with the boys in the Gryffindor section while I hung out with Sev and Cissy in the Slytherin section. Occasionally, I would spend some time with the girls: lily, alice and pandora. I missed them dearly and wished we could spend more them. However, I had only a few free moments between class and at meal time. Today was the start of our month-long detention. Throughout the day, I was dreading having to go to detention. We were halfway through the day which meant I had my free period. As always, Sev and cissy were by my side. After charms, we went to the lake to relax for a while before I had to serve detention.
"I hate to burst the bubble but how will you deal with james?"Cissy asked me as I rested on her shoulder.
"Honestly I don't know. I know that our grandpa will want us to be civil. But, I doubt we will." I sighed and nuzzled deeper into her shoulder.
"Well, we'll be right there for you when you're done. You shouldn't have to stare at his stupid face for so long." Cissy reassured me as Sev gingerly rubbed my back.
"Thank you. I don't know what I would do without you two." I replied and gave both of them a tight hug.
"Oh you would probably go a bit crazy and start your world domination plans. No one would eveer suspect sweet liza."Sev chuckled but it was cut short with my elbow.
The three of us remained lost in the beauty of the lake until Professor McGonogal's shouts interrupted us.
"Liza, I hate to intrude on your beauty time but you must serve detention now." Professor McGonogal sarcastically commanded. I knew that an answer was rhetorical and got up to meet my grandmother. I didn't bother to look back at my friends as we walked to his office. The majority of the trip was silent which made it extremely awkward. Finally, my grandma spoke to break the eerie tension at the entrance to the office.
"You know that your grandpa and I love you both. You two are the best grandchildren we could ever hope for. We're just a bit disappointed in how hot headed you can be. You have to control that temper. We did not raise you in a barn. Now off you go. Lemon drops" Grandma said as she kissed my forehead and gave me a giant hug. I wrapped my arms around her waist as an apology for my actions and a promise to do better. We released once the steps began to raise. After a few spirals, I could no longer see her sweet smile and arrived at my destination. I knocked on the heavy wooden door before entering. I saw my grandpa and James sitting at his desk sipping on tea. I shuffled over to the empty seat across from his desk and kept my gaze fixated on my grandpa.
"Now that the princess is here, we can start your work. The two of you are going to make this room spotless. If I hear any arguing, I'll make a giant mess for the both of you to clean. Now hand over your wands." grandpa commanded as he held out his hand for our wands. We complied without hesitation. With a swish of his hand, he made a mop, bucket, and cleaning rags appear. James went to grab the rags since dusting was an easy task. I was left with the mop and bucket which was the hardest job. I kept my teeth clenched and kept the string of curses to myself. We immediately began our work on opposite sides of the room. James started in the back dusting while I was in the front mopping.
Wings, I know that you can hear me. Can we try to talk?
Aren't I a desperate fangirl. Why would you want to waste your time?
I didn't mean any of that. I was stupid and rash. Please I don't want to lose you.
Well you're doing a bloody amazing job at accomplishing your fear.
Please let me make it up to you. We can start with baby steps.
SODD OFF!!!
