First night (Year 3)

Liza P.O.V

After a few more transformations, we finally got the hand of our animagi. It came just in time as Remus transformation was a few days away. We were all nervous since it would be extremely dangerous. Remus would never hurt us but the wolf was unpredictable. Once the full moon shone, the wolf took over there would be no mercy. He would hunt anything with a heartbeat which might include us. While the thought of being killed was chilling, we were still going through with it. He had spent enough nights alone & worrying over his actions.

I was spending more time with the boys so we could plan for the full moon. Everyone else missed me since I didn't have much time for them. Sev seemed the most hurt as he avoided me. Luckily, we had the plan set today so I was free during my break. I could finally explain myself & patch up our friendship. I headed to the lake since it was his safe zone. I found him sitting against the tree with his head buried in a book like always. Except, he brought the potion set I bought him & was adding stuff.

Severus P.O.V

Liza had been spending all her time with her brother & his goons for months. She never had the time to talk to me as they dragged her around. The school womaniser seemed pleased to have her to himself. I wanted to hex him so bad but didn't want to risk expulsion. Narcissa & Regulus were good friends as they kept me calm. They were busy dealing with Malfoy so I could sneak away. I was passing the time by making some random potion with my new set.

"Sev, can we talk please?" Liza kindly asked as she knelt in front

"I'm a little busy & wouldn't want to keep you from your real friends." I dismissed her

"You're my friend too & I never intended to make you think otherwise. I'll always want to talk to you & spend time with you. You're a welcome relief from the fools. I'm so sorry for hurting you by shutting you out." Liza apologised which made me look at her

"I'm sorry for being a jerk. Besides, Lily, Narcissa & Regulus, you're the only good friend i have. I've never had friends or even a best friend my entire life. I was worried that you were tired of the weirdo." I replied as I stopped the potion. Liza moved to sit next to me.

"Between us, you're my best friend too. Don't let Narcissa hear that or she'll murder us both." Liza joked which made me laugh, "I'd never get tired of you. You're not a weirdo, you're brilliant. People are just too daft to see that."

"Thanks, I appreciate that. I'm glad to have met you. You're my guardian angel." I thanked her as we hugged.

She nestled into the crook of my neck nicely. I loved being able to hold her as she fit well. I desperately tried to hide my blush. For weeks, I'd been trying to get rid of these feelings for Liza. I tried so hard to remind myself that I loved Lily. It wasn't working at all & I only got more frustrated for falling for the sister of my tormentor. After a big hug, we broke apart & Liza rested her head on my shoulders.

"What are you making?" She asked as I began to resume my taxing potion

"Liquid Luck but its complicated." I complained as my potion failed again

"There's still time. Let me help." Liza kindly offered

"Ok, here's the book. Some of the steps have to be done at the same time. Ready?" I replied as I moved the book closer to her.

She was the perfect assistant as we carefully followed every step. We worked in perfect harmony which was nice. The potion was going nicely since we anticipated every move. However, the potion still failed at the end in a tiny puff of smoke.
