I was furious with Sirius after the transformation. It had been months & I avoided talking to him. He tried to apologise multiple times & even tried bribing me with gifts. But, I wasn't having any of it. Ignoring him was hard since our classes overlapped & quidditch training. There were also the transformations. For Remus, I couldn't skip those nights. Scouting for hunters & students was crucial to keeping this a secret. I doubt our parents would be thrilled with our dangerous night activities.
The rest of my friends did whatever they could to comfort me. The girls, Reggie & Severus kept a protective barrier. Thanks to them I was fairly calm & sane. Despite the infighting, I was enjoying my time at Hogwarts. I was making my own mark at school as the muggle saviour. I had no problem defending the other students from Malfoy & his guppies. The teachers got used to our clashes as they rounded us up. I hardly got in much trouble beyond occasional detentions due to countless witnesses. Malfoy got a few suspensions which infuriated his family. To avoid expulsion, he sneakily shared his racism & stopped direct physical threats. I quickly caught onto his tricks & began countering them.
Besides my feud with Malfoy, my friendships were stronger than ever. I was getting closer to Lily, Alice, & Pandora. I enjoyed being more girly with them. It was fun to be silly & gossip. We even started getting into matchmaking for Alice. All of us saw Frank's crush & his nervous attempts at flirting. We wanted to see them get together & "accidentally" made them bump into each other frequently. I used my friendship with Frank to give subtle advice & encouragement. It seemed to work & eagerly waited for the official word. We hoped to see it come true before summer.
As I grew newer friendships, my old friends felt a little left out. With my schedule, I had little free time. But, I did my best to spend some time with them. Narcissa & Reggie enjoyed the moments we had. But, I could feel a small strain growing between us. Their parents crazy pure-blood mantra was getting to them. As I walked the halls, I saw them talking with Malfoy & his sheep. Even Sev was getting mixed up in their trash. But, I still held onto the hope that they would be smarter.
For now, I was enjoying quidditch practice. I hurried to the girl's locker room to change to get out of a conversation with Sirius. I was quick & headed out where Reggie, Narcissa & Sev were waiting for me. We headed to the Great Hall for lunch & sat in their section.
"Have you heard about the new club?" Reggie asked
"Pff, I barely have time to sleep." I laughed
"No kidding. How are you up without potions?" Sev agreed
"Living with James. It's great training." I joked
"You've got loads of experience." Cissy laughed
"Soo, you would be perfect for this new club." Reg teased
"Alright, what's this new club?" I gave in
"A duelling club. It's supervised by a bunch of teachers. You can only duel people within your year. It's a brilliant way to make a certain blondie eat his words." He mused
"Where do I sign up & when do they meet up?" I smirked
"Professor Mulligan hosts it in the 2nd-floor ballroom. It's during the weekends in the afternoon. You're not too busy unless it's a game right?" Reg asked
"Classwork's a breeze. Being Slughorn's assistants isn't bad. Sev is a great help." I said
"He also sets up challenges. I mean it'd be a dream to see you humiliate a certain goldilocks in front of the whole school." Reg encouraged
