mister byun stayed the night, finally agreeing after mother's constant convincing.

i woke up around midnight feeling thirsty, so i wrapped myself in mother's blanket and walked downstairs to the kitchen.

getting a drink, i walked back to my room, but stopped when i heard a noise from mother's room.

peeking through the slightly open door, i saw mother sound asleep, and mister byun awake.

he just sat at the edge of the bed, holding a crumpled piece of paper. it looked like it was a photo.

moonlight spilled from the white curtains and engulfed him, making it bright enough to see his face.

it was blank, void of any emotion except one. i didn't know what it was, maybe longing? yearning? it was something about his eyes made my heart fall.

he gazed at the photo, and sighed.

"Now that I'm here, I won't let anyone hurt you." he said to the photo, voice strained.

"I won't let you go this time." he whispered, once warm eyes, growing dull.

his voice was so ominous, that it made me tighten my hold on my glass cup. the moment the moonlight left the window, the room was shrouded in darkness, and i immediately paced to my room.

whatever flashed in his lidded eyes, gave me ice cold chills.
