3RD PERSON POV:
the festival was nothing short of amazing. songs were sung aloud, kids were racing off to stands, and happiness practically saturated the air.even the stars twinkled brighter than usual.
yoona, taehyung, and jimin enjoyed themselves, trying out as many games and meals as they could.
"ah!" taehyung groaned, eyes tearing up as he fanned his tongue in pain.
"i told you it was too hot." yoona sighed, rubbing soft circles into taehyung's back, while jimin sniffed the dropped deokbeokki.
"whath can i thay, i wath excithed." taehyung whined, sadly looking down at the snack.
"young miss!" someone called out, catching yoona's attention.
upon turning around, yoona's heart skipped a couple beats.
"here's another serving for your friend, on the house!" a middle aged man smiled kindly while holding out two sticks of the snack out to her. nodding in thanks and taking them from him, it took everything in her to minimize how her hands shook.
that was her neighbor who caused a rip in her dress long ago, and he had absolutely no idea who she was.
"yoona," taehyung called out, causing the girl to snap out of it.
"what's wrong? and where did you get these?" he asked curiously, and jimin pawed her foot as if asking why as well.
biting her cheek, yoona smiled.
"a nice man gave me these. c'mon take one!"
as the three walked through another sea of stalls, something caught yoona's attention.
no, not the shootout or fishing stand. not the whack-a-mole game or balloon animal event.
an old woman sat on a wooden mat, and she had a cluster of jewels and black string around her.
the sign next to her read,
custom made necklaces!
and before she knew it, yoona was at the stand.
the woman smiled happily and yoona was about to speak, but stopped when her hand brushed her dress pocket.
she had no money to get anything.
"tell me what you'd like?" the woman said suddenly, and it was surprising to yoona, how such a small voice stuck out over everything in this festival.
"a necklace please."
"who's it for?" the woman responded.
"someone i really really really hold dear. he's always been there for me." yoona shyly smiled, looking down at her feet while fumbling with her dress.
"a he, eh." she teased, and yoona grew flustered waving her hands around to dismiss the innuendo.
"here, this will be on the house dear." the woman chirped, reaching out in a pile of black string and small wooden circles.
"now, what's his name?"
and after some time, a smile bloomed on yoona's face.
"his name is-"
"yoona what's this?" taehyung asked, admiring the simple necklace in his hand. yoona came back over to him and found the boy stuffing his face with caramel apples.
"i hoped to get you something for once. i hope you like it."
the necklace read "v+y".
"v?"
"it's your nickname! v for victory, because that's where you always led me. i know you've always wanted a nickname, and it isn't the best, but i-"
yoona was cut off by taehyung pulling her into his arms, and her eyes widened as she felt her shoulder grow the tiniest bit damp.
"thank you yoona," he said, his mask lifting up a bit as he pulled her closer. from a distance, the old woman was watching the two contentedly.
"thank you so much."
his body, heart, and mind was wracked with the utmost happiness, and so did yoona's.
"yoona i want you to meet someone!" taehyung beamed, proudly showing off his necklace at the same time.
this 'someone' was a boy, younger than yoona from what she can tell, dressed in a blue hanbok and what looked to be a toony rabbit mask.
"i met him while hanging out at the other stands, and he's pretty cool." taehyung added, while nudging the frail boy to introduce himself.
"i-it's nice t-to m-eet you. i'm j-jeon-"" "heyyy! you won't make friends like this! speak up!" taehyung teased, patting the nervous boy harshly on the back.
"sorry yoona, i don't think he's that used to girls, heh heh. but this is guk."
yoona smiled, waving at the blushing boy, causing taehyung to squint his eyes and groan.
"this was a bad idea." he muttered under his breath, before grabbing yoona's hand.
"alright guk! i'm gonna show yoona around, but let's all meet again one day!"
"and remember, live your own life. do what you think is right, and take risks. that's the best advice i could offer for that." taehyung added, smiling at the astounded boy before holding up yoona's hand.
"because that's how i got to meet yoona!" he cheekily smiled, before pulling the now blushing girl away.
yoona turned back slightly to wave at guk, before disappearing in the crowd. the boy was left with his hand still raised. adjusting his rabbit mask with a smile, he blends in with the crowd as well.
taehyung's advice changed that boy's life forever, but that's a different story.
