3RD PERSON POV:
taehyung then took yoona to the see the rest of the stands, and they strode through the festival with wide smiles and joyous eyes hidden behind their masks.

all was going especially well, and currently the two got pulled into a dancing circle of all the town kids.

taehyung danced with yoona, repeatedly stumbling over his feet.

"you're pretty clumsy, huh v?" yoona chuckled, watching the boy trip for the fifth time.

"it's nothing to laugh about." he responded with a pout, biting his lip as his feet got tangled into another mess.

"and how did you happen to be so good at this?" he said jealously, squinting his eyes at yoona. he really wanted to play the prince role, but the only thing he's accomplished so far is hopping around like a toad.

and it made him feel even more cruddy when yoona shrugged at his question, not knowing herself how she found this to be so easy.

"here, i got you!" yoona smiled, taking his hands into her own and playing the lead. the two swayed awkwardly in a stiff circle, sticking out amongst the other kids around them.

while yoona kept her eyes glued onto the ground, making sure that taehyung's feet didn't go anywhere near her's, his eyes were instead glued onto her.

taehyung suddenly felt conscious of her soft hand, noticing how her hair tickled his chin as she looked down, how good she smelled, how long her eyelashes were.

it was like the world stopped, and the loud festival music was outmatched by the sound of his beating heart. taehyung suddenly feared she might be able to hear it, so he was quick to say something to mask the sound.

"y-y'know yoona," taehyung stuttered out, gaining the girl's attention.

"you've changed." he said, red faced with a shy smile. months ago she wouldn't dare talk or touch him like she did today, and the idea that they've grown to be this close made taehyung's heart swell. he silently thanked the mask for hiding his embarrassment so well.

"changed?" yoona asked, but was cut off by a loud yell. yoona stopped swaying with taehyung and looked to where the voice came from.

"Hello!? Yes, I'm looking for a girl who's about this tall with dark hair, have you seen her?" a man asked anxiously, eventually making his way towards the circle of children.

"Her name? Her name is," he trailed off as his eyes darted in yoona's direction.

her blood ran cold. his eyes widened.

"Han Areum."

everything grew quiet the moment that name was spoken from that man's mouth. upon running a hand through his messy hair, the man turned out to be disheveled mister byun, in all his insane glory. he immediately made a break in yoona's direction, and she couldn't move. neither could taehyung. the most he was actually able to do, had been pulling yoona closer to him.

"tae-" she choked out in fear as
mister byun was directly in front of her.

he reached a hand out,

and grabbed the girl behind her.

he grabbed the wrong girl.

the green clad, masked child let out a terrified scream as the townsfolk began crowding her.

"Demon! Demon!" they chanted.

the child thrashed about as a masked man grabbed at her arm.

"You think you could just sneak into our festival and taint our fun?!"

more and more people started to crowd the girl, and her friends from the circle started crying just as much as she was.

"Monsters like you don't deserve to be here!"

taehyung watched with a fear that wrecked his whole being, feeling like he just couldn't breathe. the atmosphere was practically saturated with absolute hatred.

as the festival got to be more spontaneous, more insane, mister byun's eyes just happened to land right on yoona in the middle of the madness.

scared out of her mind, she couldn't stop herself from taking a step back, unintentionally tripping in the process.

gasping, taehyung managed to catch her before she fell and that alone was all the conformation mister byun needed.

yoona followed mister byun's eyes to taehyung's hand holding her arm and her everything went numb.

those were the eyes of a true killer.

"Areum!" he called out, with a sick happiness dripping from the name. but before he could have taken any moves towards the two, he was pulled back.

"BAEKHYUN."

the voice came from yoona's aunt, chaeyin, who was in state yoona never could've imagined seeing her in. her hair was matted with dirt, blood, and sweat, her fingernails were chipped and broken, her knuckles were battered, blood decorating them generously, and her eyes,

they showed yoona that this was who she really was.

"YOU'RE NEVER LEAVING ME AGAIN!" she laughed lovesickenly, as she raised a chef's knife and turned towards the child.

THE CROWD CHEERED!

throughout all of this taehyung and jimin kept urging yoona to come along and escape with them, before it was too late, but yoona couldn't move.

because instead of that girl, she couldn't help but see herself.

"HAN AREUM, I'M GOING TO KILL YOU!

and as taehyung picked her up, running away from the madness.

yoona's heart stopped as she saw the knife plunge down.
