"No..."
Mark heard the quiet whimper as he approached the small form in the short grass. He picked the borrower up without bothering to look at it, holding it to his chest.
It was hurt; looks didn't matter at the moment.
He entered his house, the door closing behind him with a soft click. He furrowed his brows in concern as another whimper came from the minuscule being. Now that the noise was closer, he realized that it was feminine.
So it was female. Not that it mattered; he'd help either way. He shook the thought and placed the tiny life form on the kitchen counter.
As he examined her features, he smiled a bit. She was pretty beautiful from her delicate facial features alone. His eyes made it's way to the top of her head as he spotted movement and..
His smile fell. There were cat ears and, as he looked down a bit more, a tail. He growled; he couldn't help it. It was part of his nature. He could feel the rumble in his throat from the growl.
He stopped growling, realizing what he was doing too late. The terrified brown eyes of the blonde cat borrower were looking up at him, whimpering yet again.
--
Amy was conscious, but kept her eyes closed. She couldn't help the whimper that escaped her throat as she heard the giant's door click close.
What was he going to do to her? It was bad enough being in such massive hands. The only reason she hadn't made a run for it was because of her exhausted state. That, and she wanted to delay whatever was going to happen to her as long as she could.
She felt the warm, squishy hand beneath her disappear and slip away as a hard, cold surface replaced it.
She felt the large eyes scan her form, forcing herself to stay still for the most part, although her ear flicked from trying so hard not to.
A growl made her eyes fly open in panic and what she saw only heightened the terrified feeling coursing through my body. She quickly scanned his features, but only caught the almond brown eyes and the ears. Dog ears.
She whimpered, shrinking away more as those massive orbs locked with hers. She didn't even realize that the rumbling growl had ceased.
A surge of adrenaline kicked in and she shot up and started running, instantly stumbling as a wave of nausea hit her. Rather than falling on the freezing cold, rock hard countertop, she was caught by something plush that radiated warmth. It was almost comforting...
Except for the fact that she was in the hands of a giant dog hybrid. Another pitiful whimper escaped her lips as I dawned on her how easily even just a finger could hurt her.
"Shh, shh. It's okay." A deep voice rumbled above her, trying to calm her down. "You're safe."
She didn't believe him, her body shaking harder. She froze after flinching as something rested gently on her forehead for a few moments before pulling away.
"You have a fever.." His voice sounded.. concerned?
She opened her eyes again, her stomach dropping as she saw huge muscles rippling under tanned skin. She dared to look at his face, taking in the dark stubble that lined his lips. Black, fluffy hair sat upon his head that held a face with a smile that would seem kind if not for her fear.
The kind smile looked more sinister, though it wasn't likely intended that way.
"N-no.. please I'll leave.." Tears streamed down her cheeks.
"Hey, don't cry..." The deep voice rumbled over her and she felt herself being moved, her shaking intensifying. "You don't need to leave, okay?"
Amy slowly peeked up at him.
"Why are you being so nice to me?" She asked quickly, the question ending in a squeak.
"Why wouldn't I?" He murmured, looking down at the minuscule girl. "Are you hungry?"
She hesitantly nodded, leaning away from the edge of his hand and closer to his chest. His rhythmic heartbeat soothed her and she felt her eyes closing.
--
Mark had just finished making his chicken and dumplings with one hand when he glanced down and noticed that the minuscule girl had fallen asleep.
He smiled at her sleeping form, carrying her to his room. After she woke up, he'd feed her and ask her some things, like her name. And if she wanted to stay.
He placed her gently on his pillow, laying his lucky flannel over her as a blanket.
"Sleep well, my little kitty." He murmured, stroking her head and smiling wider as he received a purr.
Maybe he hadn't scared her too badly.
Maybe they could be friends.
892 words!
Okay so funny story that actually isn't that funny... I had this whole thing written and then I accidentally pressed backspace when everything was highlighted. *insert my brain exploding when that happened*
And I couldn't undo it because I was writing it in my notes like I normally do.. I actually don't know why but it's almost easier to write in the notes than it is here haha..
Maybe because I don't see how many words it is until I put it here?
Anyway, that's my excuse for it being a few days so sorry :)
Hope you enjoyed! I'm thinking of doing Ross and Holly next.. what do y'all think?
