Misunderstanding

Suzy had never had an easy life. But then, neither did most other borrowers. There were the lucky ones who were found by humans that cared for borrowers. These lucky folks would either be let go to live their lives or choose to stay with the kind humans to live an easy life.

Unfortunately for Suzy, neither one of those things happened when she was found.

She sighed softly to herself, looking at the glass in front of her. In it, she saw a ghost of her reflection in the transparent surface. Her face was dirty, her clothes torn, hair matted. Her eyes were a dull grey, not bright and sparkling like they were when she was happy--not that it was common for her to be content anyway. The blonde streak in her dark brown, slightly curly hair was the only bright thing on her.

So how'd she end up trapped here? She was stupid. That's generally how these things go, right? Well, regardless, she'd been found and stuffed here, in a glass prison by herself.

She had a good reason to leave, or so she thought. Suzy didn't know what to think anymore. Maybe she'd still be okay if she'd stayed back there. The place where there was food--albeit not much--and shelter. Her ears just *had* to hear him say one thing and freak out.

So here's what happened...

~-~•~-~

Suzy had always liked to sit in the room where they recorded, keeping well out of sight of course. She never really looked at them, sitting instead with her back against a shelf, tensed to flee if need be.

She'd already borrowed from the kitchen, her bag sitting next to her, stuffed full with chunks of doughnuts that she'd gotten to. The best part about staying here? Easily the nights alone and listening to the humans when they recorded.

It was usually difficult to borrow during the day, since all of the humans were in the building. So, Suzy had made a habit of getting supplies after they'd all left, which she could only guess was around dark. She'd pass the time until then by listening to the guys record.

The voices she'd matched to the two were all she really had to go by. Of the two, Dan usually sounded like a kind, calm kind of dude. Arin on the other hand.. well, he differed from Dan. For instance, he was loud--especially when he got upset, which seemed to happen a lot. Either that, or she was just listening to them more when he got angry.

Suzy always had to keep quiet as they talked, having to stifle laughter in all cases until this one.

Suzy had been munching on some of the doughnut chunks when a certain remark from Arin had made her freeze, her heart beginning to pound as she felt her blood ran cold.

"You one-inch freak! I could put you on a shelf; stuff you full of resin!"

She scrambled to her feet, the fear she felt clouding her mind as she ran into the walls, leaving her bag behind. Had he seen her? That was the only logical explanation to her at the time. I mean, she was taller than an inch--more like three, maybe even three and a half. Then again, most humans wouldn't know the difference.

She was completely oblivious to the fact that he was referring to a small character in the Sonic game they were playing.

In her state of dazed confusion from the adrenaline pumping through her, she decided that leaving was the best option. She didn't think it was safe there anymore. So she left as soon as she made her way down the tunnels she'd made, following it outside into the bright sunshine.

She only made it a few steps down the sidewalk before she felt the ground shake beneath her. She used the first instinct that came to mind, collapsing on the ground to 'play dead' in hopes that the one causing the tremors would dismiss her as an abandoned toy and keep walking. As bad as that sounds to compare her to a toy, that's what she wished had happened.
