I sat on in the bleachers, watching everyone dance

I sat on in the bleachers, watching everyone dance. Yes, the winter formal. I hate dances but only came because Lydia practically forced me to come, find a guy, and get over my "dumb high school crush" on Stiles. The funny thing is, she has no idea how much Stiles is in love with her.

I look over and see Stiles and Lydia sitting awkwardly at a table. He then gets up and it starts having a conversation with her, him mostly blabbering off in her face and looking kinda pissed, to be honest. When he finishes, what I assume, his rant, I watch him deeply sigh. She then gets up and takes his hand, heading to the dance floor. My heart begins to hurt.

She knows how much I like him, why would she do this to me?

I frustratingly sigh and feel a presence next to me. "Hey." I turn and see Scott McCall. One of my best friends.

"Aren't you not supposed to be here?" I say.

"I danced with Danny but that's not the point of this conversation. Allison told me to come talk to you. She doesn't want you alone." He says softly.

I sigh. "Thanks, Scott, but go back and dance with her." I lightly smile. "Go be a teenager. Don't worry about me. I'm used to sitting on the sidelines and having the school's most popular girl steal my guys' attention 24/7."

He gives me a side hug and my heart warms. What did I do to deserve a best friend like him?

"Trust me, y/n." I look at him. "He's not falling for her." I give him a confused look and he chuckles. "I have super hearing now and I can hear his heart beat around you. I can sense something. It's not the same when he's around her." He then gets up and heads back to Allison. She looks over Scotts shoulder and smiles sympathetically at me. I smile back.

"Y/n y/l/n." I nearly jump when I hear a voice. I chuckle when I notice it's just Isaac Lahey. A very shy guy who've I have become friends with throughout the years.

"Hello, Lahey." I grin. He then nervously laughs.
"I see you're alone. Would you like to maybe dance?" He looks at me as I stand up.

"I would love to." A smile makes its way onto his face as he takes my hand and leads me to the 'dance floor'.

He places his hands on my hips and I place mine around his neck. "Thanks for asking me." I begin. "I looked like such a loner over there." I softly laugh.

"But a beautiful one." He whispers. My cheeks begin to warm up.

"Y/n." I feel a tap on my arm and look at the person. Stiles.

"What?" I say as I take my arms off of Isaac and he takes his off my hips.

"Have you seen Lydia?" He asks quickly, glancing at Isaac. I notice a weird look in his eyes.

"Weren't you just dancing with her?" I quirk an eyebrow.

"Well, yeah, but she went to look for Jackson." I notice a sadness in his voice and a pleading look in his eyes.

"Fine. I'll help." I turn to Isaac. "I'm sorry, Isaac. I promise you a dance when I get back." He nods and walks off. I turn back to Stiles. "I'll go look outside. You look in the halls." He nods and we then head our ways.

I push open the gym doors and immediately see a pink dress and long, strawberry blonde locks. "Jackson?" She wasn't talking to me. I squint my eyes at the figure that was walking towards her. Peter.

"Lydia!" She stays put. "Lydia! Run!" She doesn't move so I begin to run towards her. As soon as I reach her, Peters eyes turn red and he sinks his teeth into her.

"No!" Peter glances at me and smirks. Before I can even move, I feel him sink his teeth into my arm and I scream in pain.

"Y/n!" I immediately recognize the voice. My eyelids begin to become heavy and soon enough, my world becomes dark.

Beep. Beep. Beep.

A heart monitor.

"Please. I have to see her."

"I'm sorry sir. Family only."

My eyes slowly begin to open and I look towards the door. Stiles was the one talking to the nurse. He walks away angrily and sits in the hospital chairs. He puts his elbows on his knees and head in his hands. The nurse closes the door and heads towards me.

"Oh. You're awake." She says as she checks my vitals.

"Yeah." I croak. "How long have I been out?" I sit up and soon regret it when I feel a sharp pain in my side.

"All weekend." She says like it wasn't a big deal.

I look out the window and look at Stiles. "How long as he been here?"

"The whole time." She then leaves the room and I see Melissa, Scott's mom, enter.

"Oh, y/n." She nearly runs over and hugs me. Yeah, she's like family to me. I groan and she quickly lets go. "I'm sorry, Honey, but we've been worried sick. Especially Stiles."

"I can't believe he stayed." I whisper.

"Yeah. He must really love you."

I snap my head over to look at her. "What are you-"

"Scott told me." She says, trying to hold in a smile. "And how can you not see it?"

I scrunch my eyebrows in confusion. "I'll go tell him you're awake." She leaves the room and I watch her talk to Stiles. He jumps up and practically runs to the door. The door flies open and he stands in shock.

"Hey." I say quietly. He walks slowly over to me.

"I thought you wouldn't make it." He
whispers. Tears glisten in his eyes. "With Peter biting you and you not being conscious for 3 days. Not to mention they had to revive you twice-" He rambled quickly.

"Stiles." He looks at me and wipes a tear from his cheek. "I'm here. Alive and well."

He softly laughs and gently brings me in for a hug. "I love you."

My body tenses. "What?"

He lets go of me. "I thought I loved Lydia but really she was just a distraction. I thought you didn't like me because you were always with Lahey."

"His life is hard, Stiles. He needs someone. That someone meaning just a friend." His eyes meet mine. "And..." I grab his hand. "I love you, too."

Boy, this was long. I'm sorry. I've had writers block for days. Hopefully this will make up for it because of how long it is. Anyway, vote, comment, and request. Love y'all.
