This is a weird one that I thought of after my bird died and I considered making it a book, but then I realized how lazy I am so I'm just making it a short imagine.

Third person again whoop whoop for trying new things

Ever since she was a child, she could see numbers...

When Demi was ten-years-old, she finally realized what the numbers always floating above people and animals were. They would be different for most people—some were overlapping. The same person would have a different number on different days. Somedays it would go up, but usually, it would go down.
The fateful event that let her find out what was happening was this: her dear grandfather had a one over his head. The following day, he passed away.
She wanted to think it wasn't true. But then, one month later, the same thing happened—only with a neighbor's cat.
At twenty-four, Demi had come to accept her special ability. Sure, it made friendships a bit hard, but she'd grown to put it in the back of her mind.
But she wasn't ready to meet her. The day they ran into each other—quite literally (Demi still has the shirt with the dark stain of coffee)—it was as if their fate had been sealed.
The girl was only a year younger than Demi, and no matter how much she tried to ignore the number, Demi saw it. 400.
One date turned into two. Two turned to ten, and ten turned to fifty. Those dates turned into a proposal. She said yes. They were irrevocably in love, and for a while, Demi was able to ignore the number flickering above the love of her life.
Only one day, her love fell ill. 30.
Demi knew it was almost time, so she spent every waking moment with the love of her life. Despite everything, they were really truly happy.
The last day, Demi told her love of her ability.
She was shocked. Even knowing that she would only live 400 days, Demi chose her. Love is worth the pain, Demi told her.
And then, the love of her life passed away.
But Demi, she didn't regret a thing.
