Trey wins the tip for us and I dribble the ball and dish it off to Alex for and easy right handed layup. Clearwater comes down an banks a three. Clearwater Dolphins- 3 East Corner Riptide (us)- 2. Trey dribbles the ball down and shoots an elbow jumper. Swish! In my mind, I decide that my dude won't score until I quit guarding him and come to the bench for a quick break. He doesn't, but Alex's does.
Alex dribbles down and chucks it to me with three seconds left in the half. I shoot and get shoved hard from behind. I fall forward, the ground comes at me quickly. I nail my nose right on the ground.
"Woops!" I turn and see the kid who was mocking me earlier. Blood gushes from my nose like it's a red waterfall. "You look ridiculous!" he chuckles. "Oh no!" this is once again, high pitched. "Did our poor little princess ruin her pretty little face?!"
The refs come running over. "Flagrant foul! Number twenty five!" This means that Jerk Face will be sitting in his locker room for the rest of the game. Now to me the ref says, "you okay girl? Boy are you tearing it up out there. Can you shoot your free throws?"
Yup" I groan.
I step to the line. I flip the ball twice. I bounce it once. I squat down. I come up. I release and foul through. Swish. Swish. I made both. I walk to the bench. We lead. 46-32.
