After about a half an hour of begging, my mom still wouldn't let me go to the hospital to visit Alex.

"You can see him tomorrow." She keeps repeating.

"I want to see him now." I whined. "Please?"

"No. It's late. We still need dinner. You need rest, with your head and all."

"Trey's mom offered to bring me." I say.

"Nope." She is so stubborn. "You're coming home with us."

"Okay." I whisper.

On the drive home, I texted Alex.

Me: Hey. Any news yet?

Alex: Nope. I,m in the waiting room.

Me: But they took u in an ambulance.

Alex: It's very busy tho.

Me: But u r important.

Alex: not that important.

Me: How do u feel?

Alex: Ok

Me: Less pain than before?

Alex: Yeah. They are taking me in now.

Me: Let me know what u find out. G2G. C U L8TER.

Alex: Bye

The next morning, I see that I have a message from Alex.

The ankle's broken and I can't play b-ball for three months. (The rest of the season.) :'(

I reply to his message. It looks like I have a bench buddy. I walk over to his house and open the front door.

"Hi Anna." I say to Alex's mom. "Hi Taylor." I say to Alex's snotty older sister.

"Hi Linds, How's the head?" Anna asks.

"Pretty good." I say. "Where's Alex?"

"He's in the pool."

I open the sliding door and step out onto the deck.

"Hey. What are you doing in the pool?" I call to Alex. "You have a broken ankle. You could drown!"

"My cast is waterproof." He is sitting on a small bed-like raft. "Wanna join me?"

I do. We sit on our rafts and talk about basketball for an hour.

"You're my bench buddy now."

"Yeah." He says. "Maybe, if we make the championship, we can play by then."

"You may be able too. Not me." I sigh.

"This sucks." Alex mutters, breaking the eerie silence.

"You took the words right out of my mouth." I grumble.

A/N.

Sorry for the short chapter. I haven't updated in like a million years! Thanks for your reads and votes! Keep it up! I've decided that I will make this book 50 chapters instead of 100 but there will be a sequel.
