"Concussion?" I ask. "When can I play again?"
"Not for a while." Mr. Johnson says.
"But... that's not fair!"
"Honey, you will have permanent damage if you play with a concussion." My mom says.
"It's not like you were any good or anything." Says the boy who was picking on me before the game.
"Watch your mouth!" Alex yells at him.
"She was better than you!" Trey calls.
"Break it up!" demands the ref. "We are going to have to call this game a tie."
"What? No!" I refuse to "tie" a team. Especially when we were beating them!
"We are taking you to the hospital." My mom declares.

The winter wind is cold on my bare legs. I really should have put my warm up back on. I get into my mom's car. Braden sits up front with my mom. Camden and I are in the back. It is dark out. Probably just after dinner. How long was I out? My head kills. My vision is still blurry and I am dizzy. My eyelids cover my green eyes.

I must have fallen asleep because I wake up and we have arrived. The doctors do some more tests. Just like Mr. Johnson did. I am almost positive I failed them all. He leaves the room for about twenty minutes. Now it is just me, Braden, and Camden. Mom is in the bathroom calling dad. He had to leave my game early for an after work meeting. Camden's stomach growls a long, low growl. "We haven't had dinner yet, have we?"
"No." He replies innocently.
"Do you want my Gatorade?" I offer it to him. He smiles shyly and takes it from my hand. Suddenly, the door opens and the doctor walks in.
"Bad news-" he says.
