The next day at school it was as if the universe had been flipped on its head.

Jace found me in the hallway that morning and delivered a hot chocolate. A "peace offering" he called it. I told him it was a friendly gesture.

At lunch, Jace sat at our table and that night at the show he never left my side. As the days went by, his posse slowly joined my little group; it had suddenly doubled in size.

I could feel the eyes always watching but I paid them no attention. And it seemed Jace didn't either. Never in my life had I thought I'd be sitting having lunch with the popular crowd every day and it was all because of Jace.

This went on for the next year. And I found that with each day that passed my feelings for Jace only grew stronger and I was scared of where they might lead.

It went from a simple crush and infatuation to something much bigger. I couldn't quite figure out what it was but there was definitely something there. An attraction. At least for me there was.

Jace and I spent nearly all of our time together. At school... doing homework... or when he was working. You could pick up my phone literally any time of day and see a message from him waiting to be read.

And yet... I was still unsure whether he had an inkling of feelings for me besides friendship. If he did, he never let on.

There were so many times I'd open my mouth to tell him my feelings only to snap it shut when my brain caught up with my heart.

I wasso scared that if I told him how I felt—so that we had a chance at a future—I'donly lose what we had in the present.
