Forgotten Identity

Three

I decided to go for a walk. I wanted to see some of the other kids here. I was tired of Jason, Adrian and Leo being the only people I knew here. I was almost at the lake when I saw Stephanie "Would you look at what the cat dragged in." her voice was nasally and very annoying. I just kept walking. "Amy listen to me when I'm talking to you." I turned to face her, she was wearing a low cut dress, if you could call what she was wearing a dress. Braced myself for anything she could throw my way. "Do you really think Leo likes you? It's only 'cause you're the new girl, he does it to all of us." Ok, I'll admit I wasn't ready for that, she looked at me smiling. If I knew one thing about girls like this, it was you can never let them know they have gotten to you.
"What would you know?" I tried to hide the disappointment in my voice.
"He did the same thing to all of us girls." She gestured to the group of clones behind her.
"Oh, they are people? I thought scientists had finally managed to clone monkeys." Stephanie's face went a little red and her breath started to pick up.
"Us girls need to stick together and stand up against Leo." I looked at her, she wanted me to become one of her little clones, over my dead body. Anyway Jason and Adrian didn't like her and I was already pushing it with Leo.
"Thanks, but no thanks." She looked at me shocked, apparently most people don't say no to her.
"Fine, suit yourself then, you will regret this, just like your brothers did." My brothers? She knew my brothers!
"You knew my brothers?" She gave me an evil smile; she had found my weak spot.
"Yeah, they still go here, just ask Adrian and Jason." With that she turned her back on me and the group walked off. I needed somewhere to think about what had just happened, while walking around I managed to stumble onto a lake. The lake was so clear and still. midnight blue and the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. I felt peaceful for the first time I had been on my own since I got here. I found a tree close to the water's edge and closed my eyes, letting my brain work out all that had happened since I got her

"Amy come on!!" Zack tugged on my hand pulling me towards the forest.
"Zack where are we going?" I was laughing hard. He kissed my hand and pulled me into a clearing. There was a picnic basket. I smiled a breath caught in my throat. He had strung Christmas lights through tress and wrote my name in the grass in roses and candles.
"I did all this for us, and I bought you this." He pulled out a silver bracelet and put it round my write. I read the inscription 'Zack+Amy=Forever' I felt my eyes dampen. "Zack...It's amazing I love it." He smiled and pulled me closer to him.
"I love you Amy." He kissed me, as we kissed I saw white smoke knock over a candle and the forest lit up. "AMY RUN!" I ran hoping Zack was right behind me.

"Are you ok?" Someone gave me a little nudge and I opened my eyes. The first thing I saw was a girl kneeling down in front of me. Her fire red hair was hanging down in her eyes. I rubbed my eyes and she moved back.
"I'm fine" I sat back against the tree and she sat next to me, I started playing with the bracelet Zack bought me
"I'm Amber, who are you?" she had a nice voice and seemed to almost talk in a song like manor.
"I'm Amy, and you seem to be the first girl here who doesn't worship Steph." She laughed, it was a cute laugh and I couldn't help but join in.
"Yeah, Steph is pure evil. And before you ask, I kinda lost my temper and I lit my sister on fire." I just stared at her, she was so calm about that, and she seriously just admitted that to me?
"I was the only one to survive a fire so they thought I started it." I wasn't about to say it was started by white smoke, I never told anyone that, I didn't want to end up in a mental hospital. She just kept smiling at me.
"We both had fire bring us here, so when did you get here? I've been here for a year."
"Last week." She smiled and jumped up
"Little advice, we all have secrets here, but I think we can be friends. I'll see you around." With that she jumped into the lake and swam out of sight. I looked to the sky and realised it was later then I thought, time to head back.

As I was climbing the hill back to the building I ran into Leo. He was out of breath and looked terrified. "Amy, go to bed and don't look back." He kept running and I ran towards the building. When I got there I turned around to see Leo being chased by black smoke. I screamed and ran into my room. I just made it before I fell to the floor crying, images of Zack flooding into my mind. I kept cursing the GOD DAMNED SMOKE THAT BROUGHT ME HERE! I woke up in the morning to find Roses on my bed with a note 'Amy these aren't as beautiful as you but its close, Love Leo.' I was speechless, these were beautiful. As I put them in a vase there was a knock on the door. "Come on in" I turned around to see Amber in my room.
"Hey Am, I was thinking maybe we could go to the pool and swim for a while." I smiled and grabbed my bikini and towel, pushing her towards the door. "I'll take that as a yes?" And we walked off laughing.

We spent the day swimming and playing around in the pool. When we got out for lunch I had a best friend. "So, who were the roses from?" Amber handed me an apple. I took a bite before answering.
"They were from Leo, he's my boyfriend." Her face lit up.
"You're going out with Leo? He is like the hottest guy in the place." I smiled and took another bite of my apple grinning.
"So if Leo is hottest, who's second and third?" I wanted to see if I could get her a guy.
"Well Leo is hottie of the year here, Then it would be Adrian, he is so full of muscle and so protective of his friends, I would love to date him but he does tend to screw over girls so that's a turn off. Then there's Jason because he is sensitive and hot!" I smiled I wouldn't tell her that I knew all three, not yet anyway. After a while we started swimming again, while I was under the water I felt the only person in the world.
"Amy?" I heard someone calling me so I came out to see Leo staring at me. I moved my hair out of my face and smiled swimming to the water's edge.
"Hey Leo, come and swim" I turned to Amber "Is that ok with you?" she nodded and went under the water, Leo took my hands.
"I would love to, but it would have to be another time, I'm off to the gym. Have to keep fit for my favourite girl." He smiled and kissed my hands. "I love you Amy." He kissed my hands and got up
"You too Leo." I smiled and swam back to Amber who was laughing. I splashed her. "Let's go back to my room ok?" She smiled and go out of the pool before pulling me out. one thing I learnt today was that we were going to be friends forever
