Forgotten Identity

Twenty Three

My team looked around the streets making sure there were no armies coming. I was continuously thinking about the sun and its heat in order to make sure we don't end up in the rain, only adding to the amount of stress I was carrying. Cyclone was complaining about what we were doing but I was ignoring her, she had no right to continue to bitch about the climate when we were about to go fight to our death. Amber hissed at her to shut up as we neared the building again.

The building still looked deserted but I could hear Leo yelling inside. I heard a slap and someone start screaming hysterically. Amber frowned at me and I just shrugged nodding for her to start the attack. She melted the lock and we snuck inside slowly. I looked around but I couldn't understand where the voices where coming from. I took the front with Amber and Cyclone behind me ready to attack. My sword was out and I was ready for anything. I couldn't understand where the voices were coming from; Leo must have heard us coming if they were this quite since we walked in the room.

The silence was almost death like; every foot step seemed to echo around us as we snuck through the building. Amber came beside me and held her hand out making as small flame in her hand mimicking mine so we had more light. Cyclone was controlling wind around us to keep the flames from flickering. Jason was scared, I could see it on his face, and he was worried about Aura. I reached over and gave his hand a small squeeze with my free hand trying to give him some of my strength.

As we walked I heard a loud whimper and cry, turning to the sound. We all started running scared it might be one of our friends again. My mind was running through worst case scenarios. What if it was Will? Or Adrian was hurt? What if someone had been killed? Jason had over taken me, and I heard him scream. Aura was crumpled up on the floor crying, her hair was filthy, there was a massive red mark on her face and one of her arm. Jason knelt down next to her instantly. "Aura...what happened? Who did this to you?" she didn't answer just hugged him tight. I bit my lip watching the scene in front of me wanting to intervene.
"Jason, we have to go it might be a trap." Amber spoke for me and I saw the hurt in Jason's eyes when she spoke. Jason's arms tightened around Aura and he just shook his head looking at me his brown eyes pleading with mine to understand. I sighed and walked over kneeling next to Aura running my fingers through his hair.
"Sweetie, is this a trap?" She looked at me and shook her head. I bit my lip, I wasn't sure if I could trust her. I wanted to, so badly but what if Leo was watching. I looked into her blue eyes my gut told me she was telling the truth. I nodded to Jason and he stood still holding Aura in his arms bridal style close to his chest so he could protect her. I got my phone out and sent Adrian the message "angel's nest" to signal that we need to regroup and talk about the new addition to our swat team. I nodded to my team and we started for the door again. Once outside we crouched around Jason and Aura waiting for a strike attack. The next thing I knew was there was someone jumping down from the roof; I used the wind to make him fall
"Fuck! Damn it Amy!" I stopped the wind instantly recognising my big brothers voice. I was about to yell at him when arms went around my waist. I jumped up making my body hot so the person would be forced to let go
"Damn it! Angel!" I turned to see my boyfriend trying to cool his hands down. I wanted to rip my hair out in frustration, these guys where acting like complete idiots.
"What is wrong with you?! We are in the middle of going to battle and you scare the life out of me!" I hissed so we wouldn't be heard. Adrian didn't pay me any attention but Will mumbled an apology. I looked over at Adrian; he was staring at Jason his weapon raised. Amber rushed to him, hand on his arm whispering to him; he lowered his weapon but didn't let his eyes leave Aura.
"Why is there an angel with us?" His question was directed at Jason but I answered for him,
"We found her, she was crying in a corner I asked her if it was a trap and she said no." Adrian looked at me
"Right and you're the best judge of character yes? You dated a white for months!" He snapped glaring at me. His words were like a slap in the face, I didn't know anything while I was dating Leo and Adrian knew that.
"Well MAYBE someone else should have told me sooner! Rather than let me make a fool of myself! Besides from what Kayla told me while she was with Will you and here were VERY friendly." Adrian glared at me and started walking towards me. I backed into the wall scared. Adrian's eyes were dark and he was glaring at me. I felt myself whimper slightly in fear. Suddenly Aura spoke.
"Enough!" Her once soft and calm, sing song voice was louder, harsher than I had ever heard come out of her. Adrian and I looked at her, neither of us moving from our spots on the wall. She got up out of Jason's arms and walked over to both of us. "Do I honestly look like someone who is capable of killing ALL of you right now? I can hardly walk! I'm a sobbing mess! My brother tried to KILL ME! FIGHTING ALL THE DAMN TIME IS NOT HELPING THE SITUATION!" Jason jumped up and put an arm on her shoulders
"shh Aura, calm down" I looked at Adrian and he sighed nodding
"I trust your judgement sis"
"Good, cause if we all fight, it will just end badly." I kissed his cheek and turned to Aura "Stick with me, that way Jason can look out for you, and you can help me stay alive." Aura nodded before dropping to her knees a look of pure agony on her face. Jason screamed her name and knelt next to her holding her.

Aura crumpled on the floor her screams echoed around the alleyway none of us knew what to do so we stood there watching helpless, while Jason rubbed her back almost in tears from helplessness. Eventually she stood up wiped her eyes from her loose tears and rolled her shoulders. Adrian gave a look at Jason who repeated the shoulder roll and he nodded in understanding, everyone else looked around at each other in confusion not having any idea what was going on. "I broke the rules, I had to pay." Aura stated and I looked at Jason, he shook his head "Okay, so I'm with Jason and Amy, fine. Run me through the plan. Let's go." Adrian shook his head.
"No, no more it just hit sunset we stay in here tonight, make a base camp, and run through some plans work out how we will go from here." We all sighed in protest but Adrian ignored it. "Fatigue equals death." And then he let his wings out flying off to get some "materials" he claimed.
Once we were warm and fed we sat around the camp fire. All of us cuddled in our couples or a group if they were single.
"So...Aura are you okay? What happened?" Ash spoke softly his voice hardly heard but we were all thinking it. Our eyes all drifted to Aura as Aqua and Cyclone murmured in agreement. Aura sighed and Jason's arms tightened around her. Slowly Aura stood up and let her wings out. We all gasped her once pure white angel wings had turned a grey and every couple of wings there was a black one. "What?" Ash voiced our thoughts again I looked around and saw Steph staring a snark remark on the edge of her lips. I gave her a glare that shut her mouth instantly. Aura put them away and sat back down.
"Fallen angels are meant to be pretty 'bad'" she made the air quotes with her fingers "they are meant to swear and betray people things like that. An angel is supposed to be all nice and good no swearing no going against the family, stuff like that. I messed up, I've sworn and I turned on my brother. He wanted me to kill, and I thought it a sin, but I agreed, then...then he asked me to kill the love of my life and I said no. He hit me...told me to get out and well I'm falling, it's not as magical as people seem to think, there isn't some long fall from heaven it's just pain utter agony as your wings are ripped out to be replaced with black ones, everything I do that goes against Leo will do that. I just need to fight the pain." Jason kissed her head whispering something in her ear. She sighed leaning into him and kissed him softly.
"Welcome to OUR family Aura, we will help you through the change." Adrian smiled winking at her causing her to roll her eyes and kiss Jason again. Adding Aura to our team will most likely be the most logical thing we have done in a while.
