Your POV

I'm still in shock of what Shadow has done for us. No human being has ever showed that much kindness towards me and my family in all my life.

"Thanks again, Shadow," I say as we enter his room.

"You really don't have to thank me. Everyone needs to be shown a little kindness everyday."

I look away from him as we sat on his bed. "Yeah, tell that to the villagers..."

"Huh? What do you mean?"

I look back to him. "Every day of our lives, my siblings and I all had to go out and try to earn some money... " I silently edged her to continue.

"Some people were kind enough drop give us even a little money. Tails the blacksmith always provided us with money for at least a few days. but the you get people who turn a blind eye to the things around them and act like people like us don't exist. They treated us like dirt on the streets of the village, just a damn waste of space. But then, ever since I met you, my family's lives have improved so much. It's all thanks to you, Shadow..."

Shadow's POV

I see her blush lightly and I chuckle. Then I respond, "Wow, you really did have a rough life, yeah? But don't think being royalty is any better."

She looks at me confused. "Huh? What are you saying?"

"Tch. Royalty isn't as grand as other people think it is. It's a pain in the left ass cheek. I don't like having to make people take orders from me, or having to attend fancy balls every year. Worst part is that your parents will arrange your marriage once you turn 18. They've already arranged my wedding..."

It was probably my imagination, but I think I saw her eyes flash with.. pain?

"Y-You're getting married...?"

"Yeah.. to my childhood friend, Lacey. Bad thing is I don't love her that way... I never have. She's nice but, I always thought of her as a friend. They're coming over tomorrow for dinner and the maids have to help cater it... including you."

"Oh... Hey, Shadow, d-do you love anyone in particular...? I-I just wanna know"

Crap... she wants to know... do I confess now, or..,

"Shadow?"

I snap out of my daze, and made a decision to confess my feelings.

"Uh... yeah. There is... someone I'm in love with..." She looks at me intently.

"Uh, it's... it's you..."

Her eyes widened at the statement. "M-Me? Why me?"

I lean forward to press a quick kiss to her lips. "Because you're kind and thoughtful, loving, beautiful. There's a whole bunch of reasons as to why I love you... I don't want to marry Lacey. I want to be with you."

"Sh-Shadow..." I suddenly see her tackling me in a hug. "I love you too...!"

I smile and wrap my arms around her.

"Listen, (Y/N), we can never let my parents find out. Who knows what they'd do to you if they found out. Promise you won't say anything."

She kissed my lips and whispered, "I promise. It's our little secret."
