You dragged your feet down the stairs leading to the Green Arrow's HQ. Today, facing your ex felt even harder than usual. You and Felicity still worked side by side in the Arrow Cave sometimes. It was awkward at first after the breakup four months ago, but eventually, the pain started to numb.

You still had strong feelings for her, even after all this time. At first, you thought maybe she felt the same—until she started dating Oliver just a few weeks after you broke up. And your heart shattered all over again. Not only did she break up with you... she broke up with you for a guy.

"Hey, Y/N," Rene greeted, pausing his relentless punches on the bag. He walked up and gave you a quick, sweaty hug. "How're you holding up?"

You and Rene had been close friends for a long time, even before his wife and daughter. He knew about your heartbreak over Felicity and had been helping you through it, in his own way.

"I'm fine," you sighed, leaning against the wall and rubbing the dark circles under your eyes, barely noticing the sweat clinging to your clothes.

"Yeah, you sure as hell look it," he laughed, rolling his eyes and turning back to the punching bag.

You mentally groaned as Felicity and Oliver walked in, hand in hand, her wedding ring glinting under the lights as she laughed at something Oliver said.

I used to make her laugh.

You forced yourself to look away as they shared a kiss.

"Y/N?" you heard her call after she pulled away from Oliver.

I love you.

"What are you doing here?" she asked with a soft smile, making her way over to you.

I still love you.

Before you could respond, she pulled you into a hug, and you struggled not to break down at the contact.

"Hey, um—" I fucking love you. "Oliver called me to help him with something. And I wanted to be here to cheer Rene on." You forced a smile, crossing your arms over your chest and leaning back against the wall.

"Well, it's good to see you." She smiled again, and you had to look up to stop the tears from forming in your eyes.

I still fucking love you.

Never mind, I'll find someone like you.
I wish nothing but the best for you too.
Don't forget me, I beg.
I remember you said,
'Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead.'

After Felicity walked away, Rene pulled you into a more secluded area of the cave.

"Are you sure you're alright?" he asked, concern evident in his eyes.

Those five words were all it took to shatter your resolve. It started with a few tears before you broke down, full-on sobbing in his arms. He stroked your back gently, used to your outbursts over Felicity.
