This is a Soulmate AU where the most significant words your Soulmate says to you are engraved on your wrist. Most people's tattoos said cheesy things like "I love you" "Always" i'm dainty black ink but yours has always said "There is always hope" in a fiery red print which Soulmatologists said meant that you're pissed when you hear him say it and you'll never be together.

You scratch insistently at the dainty tattoo on your wrist wondering why it was irritating you today of all days. Today was the day you finally get revenge on your twin sisters' killer. You'd been tracking Emiko Adachi since you had found out about her connection to the Queen family and the fall of the Queens Gambit according to all the intel you'd beaten out of people over the years she knew about the sabotage on the yacht and did nothing to stop it or warn the passengers boarding the ship, all out of a petty vendetta that she held against a father that didn't give a shit about her.
You splash some water on your wrist and on your face before leaning against the sink and taking in your features for the first time in months. You looked nothing like the happy go lucky, pastel-wearing, bubbly girl you were a few years ago. You look so different that if your twin was still here you'd doubt she'd even recognize you. But after you get your revenge everything will turn back to normal. At least you'd hoped it would.
You walk over to the foot of your makeshift bed and pop open the trunk that holds your suit and weapons.
"One more time Brandy," you mutter to yourself as you slip into the tight, dark leather costume complete with dark lipstick and the obvious mask.

There's a low grunt from your opponent as you pin her beneath your knees and use the upper hand you have on her to beat any resistance out of her, or at least that's what you were telling yourself as your leather-clad hand made contact with her face again and again.
You're so locked into your movements that you keep swinging even after you were dragged off of Emiko. Once you've regained your footing you see the Green Arrow rushing to her side and helping her up off the ground.
"You're with her, Green?!" You yell out your voice cracking slightly as you wipe stray blood off your lip with the back of your battered knuckles.
You can't help the tears of anger and betrayal that run down your face when he shields her broken body with his. You'd been fighting to find Emiko for so long that it only made sense for you to have crossed paths with the green arrow as he vainly attempted to stop you, but this-this felt different. He wasn't just stopping you he was helping her.
A stern look of determination washes over your face and you straighten your stance.
"Green if you don't move I'm taking you down with her. She's a murderer!" You practically screech the last part your eyes welling with even more tears as flashes of your twin pop into your head.
"I understand! Trust me I understand more than you know but killing her won't bring your sister back," Arrow pleads one of hands held out towards you as a sign of good faith.
"There's nothing left for me! She took everything I had away!" You yell and the ground beneath your feet starts to shake as you channel your powers, "There's no more hope."
"There's always hope!" The Arrow yells back and a searing pain rips through your arm where the tattoo is.
The ground stops shaking as you're paralysed with the pain searing from your wrist. You glance down and see it glowing in a bright painful red before fading away completely leaving you with a numbing tingle in the spot where it used to be.
It's silent for a moment as you stare down at your blank wrist and you can sense the Arrow doing the same.
"What...?" He asks his hand lowering slightly as his eyes linger on your wrist.
Meeting your soulmate was supposed to be life changing. It was all your sister ever talked about she was always so excited to meet the person who would change her life forever. She was devastated on your behalf when doctors had told you time and time again that you'd never be with your soulmate. That the circumstances that surrounded you and your soulmate were too great for the two of you to surpass. Your sister had hope. She said that you'd end up with your soulmate no matter what.
She was wrong.
With a loud yell you throw your hands up and a burst of energy sends both Emiko and the Arrow flying backwards. With the Arrow disoriented, you stalk up to Emiko and wrap your hand tightly around her throat as you hoist her up and ram her up against a nearby wall.

She gags and claws uselessly against your hand but all you do is clutch your hand tighter around her throat. You can feel the resistance drain from her and you can't help the wave of guilt that slams into you so hard you lose your grip on her and she collapses into a coughing heap.
"Y/N, stop this," Oliver chokes weakly as he staggers to his feet still groggy from your hit.
"It's too late. I'm already here," You sigh softly taking one last glance at the soulmate you'd never have and using a heavily concentrated wave of energy to break Emiko's neck, leaving her lifeless on the ground.
