You were standing next to your best friend, Oliver, on the Queen's yacht. Both of you watched the calming waves—well, you were watching. Oliver, on the other hand, was watching the skimpy girls strut around the deck.

"O, you have a girlfriend. This is getting pretty disgusting," you scolded, pinching his bicep lightly.

"Yeah, but she's not nearly as hot as any of these girls. Oh my god, look at that one." He pointed at a strawberry blonde in a strapless purple dress, winking when she glanced back at him.

"Ew, you pig." You laughed, eyeing the girl Oliver had been ogling. "Laurel is way hotter."

He rolled his eyes before wandering off toward another girl on the boat, and you made your way over to a random blonde guy who looked kind of hot.

The rest of your night was spent with you and Oliver endlessly flirting with random people, until Oliver disappeared. It had started raining, and you used your clutch to shield your hair as you scurried out of the open and toward Oliver's room. This simple task proved difficult as the boat began swaying violently, causing you to slide around in your mahogany pumps.

Panicking, you gripped the door frames to pull yourself toward Oliver's room. Your breathing became erratic, but you managed to run the rest of the way, gripping the doorknob to stop yourself from being flung back into the chaos unfolding on the deck.

People were being thrown overboard, others were running around screaming, and harsh waves were crashing onto the deck, sending the yacht lurching in every direction.

Quickly, you pushed the bedroom door open and gasped at the sight of Sara Lance, half-naked, on top of Oliver. Ignoring the scene, you pushed yourself inside and shut the door behind you. "What the hell are you doing?!" you yelled at your best friend and his girlfriend's sister, still clinging to the doorknob for dear life.

Before you could launch into a full-blown rant, a loud noise cut you off. The large window on the side shattered, water and wind bellowing through. You screamed as the force became so strong it started pulling you toward the opening. "Oliver!"

"Y/N, just hold on!" he shouted over the noise, while Sara struggled to keep the thin sheet over her nearly naked body.

"If we make it out of this, I'm telling Laurel!" you yelled back with a strained smile.

The force grew stronger, and you both watched helplessly as Sara was sucked out of the boat and into the raging sea, likely already gone.

"Oh my god." Tears welled up in your eyes as water began flooding the room. "We're going to die."

The pull of the wind weakened after swallowing Sara, and you scrambled to Oliver's side, hugging him tightly as he hugged you back just as fiercely.

"Y/N! Oliver!" The door swung open, and Oliver's dad stood there with two life jackets in hand and one already on himself.

He carefully made his way over, pulling a jacket over you and handing one to Oliver, who put it on immediately.

You were too terrified to move, so Robert had to carry you to one of the emergency boats while a trembling Oliver followed behind. Once you were safely inside, Robert sat down beside you. He was about to drop the boat into the water when a black-haired man ran up, screaming, "Wait!" Robert didn't stop lowering the boat, and the man jumped in despite the distance.

The sky had cleared, and the sea was calm. The lifeboat rocked softly, and the four of you sat in silence. Your head rested on Oliver's shoulder, and your hand was in his as you silently cried, still shaken by the ordeal.

"Dad..." Oliver said quietly, staring off into the distance and breaking the silence. "I'm hungry."

Robert glanced up and rummaged under the seats, pulling out a few bananas. "Here." He handed one to Oliver and one to you.

As Robert counted the bananas, something seemed to dawn on him—there wasn't enough food for everyone.

What happened next shocked both you and Oliver. He pulled out a gun and shot the random man who had jumped into the boat. The body fell backward into the ocean with a splash. You screamed at the loud gunshot, shattering the brief moment of calm.

"Dad, what the hell?!" Oliver shouted while you stared at Robert, petrified.

"There's not enough food," he muttered, still mentally calculating. "Still not enough."

He turned the gun on himself. "Tell your mother I love her, son. And Y/N?" Your blurry eyes met his tear-filled ones. "Take care of my boy."

With that, he pulled the trigger.

"No!" Oliver screamed helplessly as his father's lifeless body fell overboard.

You climbed onto Oliver's lap, sobbing into his shirt while he cried into your hair.

After what felt like days—but was only a few hours—the boat washed up on an island. An island that would make you and Ollie faster, better, more miserable, stronger... but closer all at the same time.
