Thank you-Millie groaned frustratedly and honestly would've screamed her head off if it weren't for the, already concerned, neighbors that could hear most things through the thin walls of her cheap-ass apartment. Being a waitress doesn't make a lot of money and when your boss decides to start paying you even less, just the minimum wage, it's not weird to be angry. She laid down on her bed with her feet on her pillow and she kicked with as much force as she could muster, hearing the wood crack and break and shatter and splinter somehow made her both calmer and more angry. She started trashing her place. Throwing a chair, tearing a microwave out of the wall, she didn't care anymore. Until she came across a picture of her and her best friend, Caleb. Still shaking, she called him.
Caleb?
Millie? Are you okay? You sound like you've been crying? What happened?
Could y-could you come over? Please?
Uhm yeah, sure, I'll be there in like five minutes. Just hold on, okay
By the time Caleb got there Millie was in a corner crying. He quickly walked up to her and hugged her. "Hey, hey, shh, it'll be okay. Mills, it'll all be okay." She hugged back and wept into his shirt like a child that just lost it's dearest pet. "How's about we clean this place tomorrow?" He softly asked, stroking her hair. "Let's get you into bed." He slowly lead her to the broken bed with the once soft covers. She got in and he was about to walk away to sleep on the, damaged, couch when she spoke up, her voice still broken. "Stay with me?" She asked, moving so there was enough room for two people to exist on her slightly-larger-than-twin-sized-but-still-small bed but not enough to sleep comfortably without some serious cuddling. He shrugged and got in, looking at her as she snuggled into him. She looked back and there was an infinite little moment where they could both see the realization they were feeling in the other's eyes. If you asked them, Caleb would say Millie leaned in first, but she'd tell it the other way around. But that's not important. What's important is that that night, Millie slept on a broken bed with a healed heart.
