-you set my world on fire
and then told me we'd have s'mores-"Where are we going?" I asked, laughing loudly while Sadie pulled me along down the third hallway so far. "You'll see, Millie. You'll see." She ducked behind a curtain that obscured the rest of the hallway from sight and followed her. "Whoa." Was all I could utter after entering the room. It was clearly one of the larger rooms this abandoned hospital had to offer. It was about the size of an average living room. The top right corner, which Sadie told me was North, held a sleeping bag, a pillow, a flashlight, clothes, and a large pile of books. Top left, East, had a desk, with a desklight, more books, but these ones seemed more like schoolbooks, and a chair. South was like a kitchen, it held food, some pillows to sit on, an extra cellphone, and a pile of takeout menus. West had some pillows on the floor and the laptop set up on a table. There was a generator in the middle of a room and the lights, while dim, illuminated the room to some extent. "So, what do you think?" She asked, looking at me with a smile on her face. "This is your home?" I asked. She nodded. "It's our home now, Millie. This," she gestured to the room around us, "is paradise. It's freedom." I started laughing, flying into her arms and kissing her quickly. "I love it!" I yelled, hearing my voice echo slightly in the abandoned hospital. "Let's hope we won't get any noise complaints because of you. Wouldn't want to anger the neighbors." Sadie said, turning to the curtain when she heard footsteps approach. "Sadie, who's that?" I carefully asked, hiding her behind me. "They're the roommates." She said, right as the curtains opened. "Morning, ladies." The first one, a guy with curly hair and a bright smile, said, stepping into the room, followed closely by the second boy, who just yelled "FREASH MEAT!" and dragged the third boy with him, an arm protectively wrapped around him. "Finn, you're such a weirdo." The fourth boy said, also walking in. "Shh, you love me." Finn replied. "Keep that talk for Noah." The third boy rolled his eyes at the fourth boy's remark. "Very funny, Caleb, remind me, when was the last time you dated someone?" The first boy yelled out a quick "burn!" and Caleb rolled his eyes at him. "Like you're doing any better in the romance department, Gaten."
"Well Sadie sure is, she managed to convince her girlfriend to run away with her." Suddenly all eyes were on me because of what Finn had said. I stood tall and looked them in the eye. "No one 'convinced' me to do anything, I decided to run away and Sadie told me she knew a place."
"Okay, well anyways, welcome to the family." Noah said, carefully taking Finn's arm off of his shoulders and stepping forward to give me a hug. Finn, Gaten, and Caleb all did the same. Finally Sadie stood in front of me. "So, what do you think of them?" She quietly asked me so the others couldn't hear. "I like them." I whispered back. "I like this family of strangers." She smiled and kissed me.And in that moment I knew, I was home.
