I step in front of my men. All of them in armor in front of me. Ready for the battle before them.
"It is time to protect Midgard and all of the realms from a very huge threat. Thanos and his great army, he has stolen the Infinity Gems. He will destroy and conquer all of realms. Fight back and save Asgard. Fight back and save them all!" I shout to my army.
I can already see them dead. Thanos will destroy them.
I watch as they leave in hordes to the Bifrost. I wait until all have gone.
I go inside the palace. I see only a handful of guards left. Verdandi waits by my throne.
"Go home," I tell my guards. They stare at me in surprise.
"Get to your families," I shoo them away.
They reluctantly leave. I look at Verdandi with her armor.
"The troops are ready when you need them," she has a slight smile in her face.
"Good," I turn into my normal self. She smiles.
"All though it's still strange I think I like you as a king," she hugs me.
I smile. Verdandi hasn't changed.
She kisses me on the cheek. Then she becomes serious.
"Thanos will destroy earth won't he?" I can hear the pain and the fear in her voice.
Do I lie to her? Do I tell her everything is going to be alright? That not all is lost? No I will tell her the truth because I...
"Everything's going to be alright," I smile.
Will she even believe that lie?
She smiles back it seems she has taken the bait. She turns to leave before a loud bang comes from the doors. I turn to them as they burst open.
Odin is at the head of a small army. Verdandi takes out her sword. I feel scared. Not like scared of Thanos scared, a different kind.
"Loki!" Odin yells.
"Good to see you Odin I'm surprised you slept in past breakfast," I gesture to the dining areas.
"You chose to joke at a time like this?! Thanos is attacking Earth and you sit in my spot trying to be the king that you never will be!" Odin roars. The small army behind him comes towards us. Verdandi grabs something from her leg. A gun. She shoots down a banister and it falls down on the group. They get tangled up underneath.
I see Odin take a sword and rush towards me.
I figured that would happen. I watch him run into 'me' as I sit on the throne. I watch him hit the steps. I take my dagger out and swing it down upon him.
A hand catches me. Verdandi stands holding me back.
"If Thanos is creating war on Earth we need everyone to defeat him," she stares at me. I let out a sharp outtake of air as I let go of the dagger.
"Odin get ready, we going down there," She sweeps by me. I look at her in wonder.
"Shall we get a third army ready?" Odin gets up.
"Yes, Loki come with me," I look at Odin. To think I called him father. Ha. To think he once called me his son. Now all he had was Thor.
I follow Verdandi as she goes to the Bifrost. The second regime is already there. She climbs on to a horse and looks at the large army.
"Expect lots of death and pain, if we fail today all will be lost! I will not be light with this matter, we may not win but you can be damn well sure that we will fight our hardest!" She yells into the crowd. I can see them hold up their swords and yell. None of them have noticed me so far.
We advance into the Bifrost. Verdandi gets off the horse. Hiemdall starts the Bifrost. I watch the swirling colors around us.
What if today is the last time I ever see Asgard? What if its the last day ever?
What if I never ever see Verdandi again?
Seconds later we land on Earth. New York City again.
Or rather what's left of it.
