Murdoc and I rush over Paula.
"Hello, boys. Nice to see you both again," Paula grinned smugly.
"Paula, delete the picture," Murdoc growled.
"Now why would I do that? I could sell the picture and make the money I would've made if I wasn't kicked out of the band," she said, being about as condescending as a person could be.
"Paula, please. We'll pay you to delete the picture," I begged.
"Isn't it funny how I've kissed you both and now you're kissing each other?" She cackled wickedly. I looked over at Murdoc. He was filled with panic and anger.
"There's no use in being mad about things that happened years ago, Paula," Murdoc said, trying to reason with her.
"That's great. Coming from a man who seems to be mad all the time. I know you abuse Stuart. You treat everyone like shit, Murdoc," she hissed. This woman was a snake. Absolutely reptilian. Cold and vicious.
"Murdoc treats me and the rest of the band very well! Quit trying to ruin us!" I exclaimed.
"Whatever. I gotta go. See you guys around," she smiled devilishly and hopped into a shitty, run-down car. As she drove off, we stood in silence. For the first time since I've known Murdoc, he was speechless. Maybe he was in shock. Maybe he died of a heart attack.
    "Murdoc," I said his name.
"Let's go get Russel and Noodle. We have to leave," Murdoc said robotically and headed back into the restaurant. Without me. I stayed back on the hill and sat down. Pulling out a cigarette, I laid back into the dewy grass and stared at the stars, wondering how my life could go from one extreme to another in the matter of a day. I managed to convince myself it was all a big nightmare and I got up and got on the bus.
I got into bed and just laid there awake. When everyone else got in, I didn't acknowledge then. Murdoc asked if I was awake and of course I was. I pretended to be asleep. I was feeling so numb. Then, something happened. Murdoc got in bed behind me and wrapped his arms around me.
It warmed my heart to know he wasn't going to just leave. I turned around to face him.
    "Murdoc?" I asked.
    "Mhm?"
"Is everything going to be okay?" I asked like I was a worried child and Murdoc was my father.
"Yes, babe. Everything will be fine. Don't worry. I'll keep you safe. I promise," then he pulled me closer and fell asleep. I smashed my face into his chest and sighed. I sure hope he was right.
