I looked over at Stu, who was asleep. It was 10:30pm and the pool was deserted.
"Stuuuuuaaaarrrrtttt," I whispered. The boy didn't wake up. I signed with frustration. I shook him gently in a second attempt to wake him. "AYE, FACEACHE!" I yelled.
"AH what?!" He exclaimed as he sat up quickly.
"Hey babe!" I snickered.
"Very funny, Mudz," Stuart said, not looking too pleased with me.
"Anyway, I was thinking we should go check out the pool," I suggested.
"But, Murdoc, I didn't bring my swim trunks," Stuart said innocently.
"Exactly," I grinned. The thoughts on my mind were far from clean.
"But...ohhh. You wanna swim...naked," Stu's black eyes widened "okay. Why not?" We both got up from the bed, grabbed a couple towels and headed out to swim. "Mudz, what if my bum gets chilly?" Stuart asked as he hesitantly stepped out the door.
"Don't worry," I said as I got a good grip on his ass "I'll warm it up for ya," I laughed devilishly. As we got into the pool, Stu hung onto me tightly.
"Mudz, what if people come out here?" He asked while glancing around anxiously.
"We'll give em' a good show, then, love," I snorted at my statement.
"Mudz, what if there's a whale in this water?" He asked, giggling.
"There's not, D. It's a pool," I rolled my eyes. Cars were passing on the street about 200 feet away. I grew more anxious every second. Someone might see us. "We should go in, D," I said with fear in my voice.
"Wha-why? We're having fun," Stu asked, looking worried.
"Come on, we're going in," I grabbed Stuart and pulled him out of the pool after me. I wrapped my towel around my hips and handed Stu his. He didn't take it.
"I'll stand here naked all all night unless you tell me what's wrong," he said and began squatting, jumping, and doing everything a naked man should not do out in the open.
"Okay! I'll tell you what's wrong. Just...let's go inside," I said as a satisfied smile began to creep across Stu's face. We went inside, dried off, got dressed and sat down.
"Now, tell me what's wrong," he demanded. I sighed and put my head in my hands.
"Nobody can know I'm gay," I admitted.
"Why not?" Stu asked, confused.
"I could get hurt or killed," I explained.
"What? What makes you think that?" He stared at me intensely.
"D, I knew a guy in high school that was gay. He was a friend of mine. Ash Thomson was his name. He got beat up every single day. Guys would follow him home and beat the complete shit out of him. He got stabbed one day after school. The assholes that would usually beat him up waited until he was almost home. Then, they pulled him into an alley and stabbed him. He didn't make it, D. He's gone now. He died because he loved differently! I don't want to end up like that! The guys that killed him didn't even get in trouble!" I began to sob. This was very unusual for me. I always tried to act tough but, just thinking about that was brutal on me.
"Murdoc, things aren't like that anymore, love. People are more accepting these days. You won't end up like him. I promise," he tried to comfort me.
"What if I lose you? What if we're apart and I can't protect you? What if-," I was rambling so Stu cut in.
"MURDOC! Everything will be fine. We've made it this far through everything crazy that's happened to us. Can't we just have fun tonight? We're in this huge hotel. Just the two of us," he said, soothingly.
"Yeah. You're right, I guess," I calmed down.
"Let's watch movies and eat pizza and just live okay?"
"Okay, babe," I smiled.
"What happened to you, Mr. Niccals? You used to not be scared of much of anything," he teased me.
"Well, that was back when I didn't have anything I cared about. Now I've got you," I said as he looked me in the eyes. Stuart nodded and then attacked me with kisses. He climbed into my lap and soon after, things got wild. After a night of pizza, horror movies, and other things, we fell asleep on each other's arms. I loved holding him close, knowing he was safe.
