I woke up on the couch, where I'd been staying the past two days. I was so depressed I didn't even have the energy to walk upstairs. I switched on the television and grabbed a cup of coffee. The news was on. I just started blankly at the screen as the annoying host told the audience of the latest celebrity gossip.
"Last night, singer of Gorillaz, Stuart Pot, appeared on the red carpet with ex girlfriend, Paula Cracker. They make such a cute couple! Here is a short interview we got with Paula and Stuart last night," the host announced and the screen changed. My body filled with rage. I wanted to slap that whore, Paula, across her ugly face.
"So, Paula, are you and Stuart officially back together?" Asked the interviewer.
"Yes! We've never been happier!" She cheered in her shrill voice.
"How did you two become reunited, Stuart?" The interviewer asked.
"I-I uh, she, um, we, uh,-" Stu nervously stuttered. I crushed my coffee cup in my hand. It shattered. Pieces fell to the floor and shards of sharp glass went into my hand. I was breathing heavily.
"Mudz, what's wrong?" Russel asked.
"Look!" I screamed and pointed at the screen. Russel sat down next to ms and stared at the television intently. I was so busy being angry I missed the next few seconds of the show.
"Wait. Mudz, rewind that," Russel said, looking for the remote.
"I don't want to see them together any more than I have to," I protested.
"Mudz, please just do it!" He exclaimed. I grabbed the remote and rewound the interview. It got to the part with Stu's stuttering. Russel leaned in. "Did you see that?" He asked.
"See what?" I asked with an exasperated tone. Russel shushed me and rewound the interview again.
"Watch," he pointed to the TV. Paula squeezed Stu's hand and dug her filthy nails into his soft, pale skin. She leaned into him and whispered something into his ear. Stu looked up and over at a pair of large men man in suits. I assumed they were just security.
Maybe not. Suddenly, Stuart perked up and began telling the interviewer how Paula and he began talking again. As soon as he quit talking, he stopped smiling and his eyes lost their sparkle.
"Mudz, somethin ain't right there. We gotta figure it out," he suggested.
"What if he's happy without me?" I asked sadly.
"BOY!" Russel grabbed me by the neck and shook me "2D WOULD NEVER GET BACK WITH THAT CRAZY BITCH! HE LOVES YOU! HE WAS TALKING TO ME ABOUT YOU LAST WEEK! THIS SHIT AIN'T RIGHT AND IF YOU DON'T INVESTIGATE IT, I WILL!" He yelled. I was dizzy but his words made sense.
"You're right. Grab Noodle, load up the bus and we'll head out," I told him.
"Sure thing, my man," Russel smiled and got up.
"Hey Russ,"
"Yeah?" He turned around.
"Thanks," I half smiled. It was hard to smile but knowing I had people that care about me, made me feel good.
"Anytime," he grinned and went to pack.
