The Scandinavian bothers had arrived a few days ago. The oldest brother, Harald Fine-hair, sat beside his younger brother by the main table as they ate dinner with the Ragnar Lothbrok. However the Scandinavian traveller occasionally rested his eyes on the blond woman that sat next to Ragnar's son Björn, Y/N Ragnarsdottir.
She had been talking with his brother the whole night and had shown little interest in Harald himself and his brother. She seemed rather unimpressed even if they had arrived with hundreds of men ready to fight by her fathers side in Frankia.
Harald couldn't really pin point why his eyes got glued onto the very young daughter of Ragnar. Her long blond hair that was beautifully braided, blue eyes that shone in the dim light in the great hall, tall and well grown body. She wore combat clothes yet he could see her well formed body which made him bit the inside of his cheek.
When Harald looked away from the young woman his eyes met with Björn's icy blue ones staring right back at him. Harald smirked and chuckled slightly as he saw the young man clench his jaw. Björn whispered something in his sisters ear, probably a warning, but she didn't seem to listen.
"I would like a toast since my daughter Y/N, will join us to Paris to face my brother," Ragnar spoke up as he had raised his cup of mead in the air. Harald looked at the young woman who smiled proudly. Harald rolled his eyes when he could hear his brother snort before him. Harald, as everyone else, raised their cups. The young woman looked around the table and when their eyes met for the first time since they had been introduced Harald gave her a nod which she returned.
"What I would do to push her against the wall and tore that fabric open before showing her what she's actually made to be," Halfdan said and Harald shot his younger brother a cold stare. Halfdan chuckled as he continued to drool over the young woman. Harald rolled his eyes as he sucked on his teeth. He knew his brother, the things he would do to Ragnar's daughter would send him straight the opposite way of Valhalla, everyone around the table would make sure of that. Harald cleared his throat when he got a feeling that he would do it himself.
"Don't be like that brother, you want the same thing," Halfdan whispered in his ear with a smirk on his face and Harald only looked at his brother. Halfdan's smirk faded slowly. "Talk to her before your pants bursts but don't forget why we're here in the first place," He continued and Harald only chuckled before looking at the Queen who smiled at him. The Queen was indeed an attractive woman who tired to get his attention yet he wasn't interested at all.
Harald let his eyes follow her small body as she left the table. Björn gripped her wrist before she could leave. Björn gave her a glance and she only nodded before pulling her wrist from his grip. Harald waited a few minutes before excusing himself from the table. Harald smirked when he saw Björn give him a stern glare but remained in his chair since Ragnar started to talk to him.
Harald took a deep breath as he walked outside. His eyes roamed around the village, torches were lit around the place. A smile creeped onto his lips as he saw Y/N on the deck. With confident steps he walked over there.
Y/N peaked over her shoulder when she heard the sound of his heavy steps on the deck. Without the moonlight she wouldn't have seen who it was. Her eyes widen when she saw Harald before her brow knitted together.
"Inspecting the ships, Ragnarsdottir?" Harald asked before standing beside her. Her body was hidden underneath a large black cloak yet he could see her arms crossed over her chest.
"Simply enjoying the view, Fine-Hair," She answered and he smiled before looking at the water.
"And now it got even better when I arrived," Harald mumbled and Y/N laughed out loud. Her laughter made him smile.
"Cocky much?" She asked and Harald rolled his eyes.
"I can certainly say that the view is better with you here," Harald said, testing her reaction. Harald smirked when she saw her blush as she snorted.
"Can I expect an honest answer if I ask you a question, Fine-hair?" She continued and looked up at him. Harald raised his brow as he looked her in the eyes. Her blue eyes was still shining, the moonlight illuminating the orbs.
"Of course," Harald said and a part of him wished that she didn't look back to the star covered sky. She let out a sigh yet her posture oozed confidence.
"What are you and your brother doing here exactly?" She asked and he frowned.
"Joining you father on his return to Frankia," Harald spoke, still frowning. She tiled her head to look at him with her brow raised.
"You promised me an honest answer," She spat back and Harald only chuckled at her tone. Harald had been admiring her since they had arrived and he had seen her for the first time. The same tome she spoke to him now she had spat to her brother that day. He had first prayed to the gods that she was a simple usable slave. It would be easier but he was very wrong. The young woman next to him were a smart mouthed woman with a strong integrity.
"And I gave you one," Harald said calmly and he snorted.
"Then why did you say that you're about to kill my father then?" She asked and turned to face him. Harald only raised his brow as he also turned around.
"Why did you ask if you already knew the answer?" Harald asked as he looked her deeply into her eyes. She didn't look away, instead she continued to look him in the eyes.
"Simply to know if you're a reliable man," She said before walking away. Harald chuckled as his eyes followed her body. Her behavior made him even more intrigued and couldn't wait to explore the world with her by his side. He saw her walk towards her cabin, the third from the great hall, right between her brothers and her fathers. He had noted that so he was prepared when the time was right.
"Y/N! I can't wait to see you on the field. To see if your skills are as quick as your mouth," Harald yelled at her with a smile on his face.
"They're not, my skills are better!" She shouted back. A smirk covered his face as he enjoyed the view. His smirk fainted a bit when Björn walked out, looking in the direction of his little sister. Björn's eyes moved to the deck and his jaw clenched when he saw Harald standing there, putting things together he said something to his sister he couldn't hear but his smirk was on full show again.
Björn walked over to the smirking Harald who only raised his brow. Björn was furious and when he reached the smirking guest he pushed him backwards.
"Don't even think about talking with my sister again," Björn growled and Harald only chuckled.
"I think she's old enough to decide for herself Ironside," Harald taunted and enjoyed to see the young man upset and all protective of his sister. Björn took a firm grip of Harald's shirt roughly which made the older man chuckle yet he didn't fight back.
"I swear if you-" Björn started.
"You'll do what Ironside?"
