The Coffee Incident

Jordan's Point of View

I'm back to school. It's been a month now and the only progress I had was a text message; a stupid text message that consisted of two letters. A 'hi' that didn't even make sense. I was stupid to send her that text message. I can't even call her because... let's admit it. I'm a big wuss as what Jade said.

Walking towards my next class, I received a text message from Eric saying that we'll have dinner with his family later tonight. I texted him that I'll meet him later when I collided with someone on the hallway. Books and papers were scattered on the floor and I knelt down to pick up those stuff.

"Oh my God, I'm so sorry!" I looked up and saw a familiar face. Brunette with grey eyes and a cute little nose. "Jordan, hi!"

"Kaylee."

"Kaylee Greenwood," She confirmed and smiled, showing off her dimples on her right cheek. Now I remember! She used to be my lab partner during middle school years. Well, we didn't really get along at first and she was really shy. But a few days later, I was able to make her talk to me and well, we became friends. We even became best friends. She was my only friend back then.

"Oh, shit! Kaylee." I hugged her. "Long time, no see!"

She hugged me back and giggled. "I missed you, asshole! It's been five years."

"I know."

"What happened? I thought you were going to graduate high school here."

"My dad wanted me to experience how life goes in the Philippines. Forgive me for not giving you my number?"

"Yeah, yeah." She waved her hand as if dismissing the subject. "Which class are you heading now?"

"Financial Management class. You?"

"Same, dude! Let's go then, I don't want to be late." She grabbed my hand and pulled me towards our next class. My day's getting better and better. Well, somehow.

Dumiretso na kami ni Kaylee sa class and magkatabi kami sa bandang likod. Thank God may kakilala na 'ko! I'm not really good at making friends. Hindi naman sa mahiyain ako, it's just that I think I'm better off alone. I'm that silent type who minds her own business.

Class ended and Kaylee asked me out to grab something to eat.

"I'm not sure. I have to go somewhere," I said, scratching the back of my neck.

"I promise it won't take long." She smiled. "Oh, please, please, please!"

Rolling my eyes, I sighed. "Alright fine. Come on."

We stopped at Taco Bell - our favorite place since high school - and tried to catch things up. Turns out, we had a lot to talk about. Describing Kaylee's physical appearance, she has long, straight hair with curls at the bottom. She has a pale complexion and a pair of light grey eyes - which I find really fascinating. She's taller than me by three inches; same height as Alexis. Let's not forget, she also has the athletic body since she was in our volleyball team during our high school years. Just like Alexis.

"How's Eric? Are you guys going to get married anytime soon?" she asked, wiggling her eyebrows.

Rolling my eyes, I said, "Lee, I'm eighteen years old."

"So? This is the twentieth century! Fourteen year olds get pregnant."

"Well, I'm not like them. Plus, I use my brain."
