The Coffee Incident

B u t t e r e d  P o p c o r n

Jordan's Point of View

Flicking through the papers with both eyebrows furrowed, I looked up to the man who's managing the main branch of Rewithe, Mr. Canchela, frowning at my reaction.

"What is this?" I finally asked.

"Technically, Jordan--"

I cut him off. "I told you to address me as Ms. White, Barney."

Nakita ko siyang lumunok at nagmukhang mabait. "My apologies, Ms. White."

"Now tell me, Mr. Barney Canchela, what did I just read?"

"Statistics, Ms. White."

"I'm not stupid. I meant to say, what happened? What is this," I pointed at the papers I was holding on my other hand, "crap? You're not doing your job right."

He huffed. "If I must remind you, your father hired me."

"I'm her daughter. I used to manage this branch," I explained, throwing the papers on the wooden table.

"Used, Ms. Jordan. Used to manage," he said, crossing his arms on his chest.

I'm getting pissed. First of all, because of this old man not doing his job right. Bumaba lahat ng statistics. I don't even know why kung bakit siya pa ang hinire ni daddy dito. Second of all, because of his attitude right now. Kala mo kung sinong matagal na nagtrabaho dito. If I know, his business was closed due to some illegal issues. Now I have this feeling na nagmakaawa lang siya kay daddy.

Smiling at him, I threw him the words. "You're fired."

Taken aback, he chuckled. "Excuse me?"

"Pack your things. I'm taking over once again," I answered with my irritating smile. I almost forget her assistant. "Take your assistant with you. Leave by tomorrow. Mark my words, Barney." Walking out of the office, I wore my sunglasses once again before facing outside.

He really is full of himself at nagdala pa siya ng sarili niyang personal assistant, replacing Alexis' place. Which reminded me the gift I received from her. I received her soccer ball. 'Yung ball na hinagis niya sa mukha ko. But on one white space, she wrote her name on it. Smiling at the thought of her, I grabbed my car keys and got inside my car.

Eight days left before I leave the country; leave Alexis again. At least, now I know she's doing fine without me. She has Gwen which I know that Gwen likes her. And I have this feeling that Alexis likes her too. Which leaves me alone.

I was stopped thinking when my phone rang from an unknown number.

"Hello?"

"Jordan, can we please talk?" I heard Eric's voice on the other line.

"What is it, Eric?"

"Can we have lunch? Later tonight's my flight. Please?"

I thought about it. Feeling a bit of pity for him for having to spend Christmas here alone yesterday, I agreed to have lunch with him. He sent me the address afterwards.

Breaking up with Eric wasn't easy. Break-ups were never really easy in the first place. But you just have to do the first move when you feel that you're no longer happy in the relationship. When you feel that it's no longer right. I know I'm a bitch. But I just have to make things right. It's better to break it off with Eric from the first place. Ayaw  ko naman siyang lokohin.
