Part Twenty-Two

     "T-twins? The doctor never said ANYTHING about twins!" I whisper through my birth to the nurse.

     "Just keep going!" The nurse says to me. I push even harder. The sweat coming on my brow.

----------------------------------1 hour later.

     "They are both girls." The nurse says, smiling as she places two bundles of joy in both my arms. I cradle them and look down. They are snuggled into their blankets, so peacful. Absolutly beautiful. I smiled down at them. How am i going to do this on my own? Two girls to raise and teach. All on my own. i'll have Luke, Calum, Ashton, and Jenn to help sometimes. But what about Michael? These are his girls too. Beautiful girls.

     "What would you like to name them?" The kind old nurse asks, breaking my mind away from my worries.

     "Ellie Vanessa. And Haley Jane." I smiled. The names coming off the top of my head. 

     "Wait how am I going to tell them apart for the first few days?" I ask her, worried about my forgetfulness. She smiled at my unknowing innocence. She wrote the names down on two wrist bands and gently slipped them around each babies wrist so i would know who is who.

     "Whats their last names?" She asked me. I had to explain that their father was not in the picture when I came into the hospitol. I took a deep breath,

     "Clifford." I sighed as my words fell out my mouth slowly. I let the empty feeling in my heart fade as i looked down at my girls. I smiled as they slept.

      "Hey sis." I heard an accent come from the door way. I look up to see Luke, Calum, Ashton, and Jenn smiling at me. No Michael. Probably off making out with some whore. I had pushed the thoughts of my maybe seeing him erlier away. As the nurse said i was delirious. They all crowded in the room and stood around my bed.

      "So these are them?" Ashton asked smiling down at them.

     "They look like little potatos." Calum says. We laugh at him.

     "Would you like to hold them? I asked. They all look terrified.

     "This looks like a job for a real man." Luke says, smiling. I slowly give him Ellie. And I give Jenn Haley. The rock the babies gently. I lean my head back.

     "I;m so glad you guys came." I said tiredly.

     "We couldnt let you be alone Ally."  Calum says, suddenly serious. Alone. The word hits me. Alone without Michael. Soon the nurse came in and took the babys to the hospitol nursery si they could sleep and i could too. All the boys hugged me. Jenn kissed my forehead and whispered.

     "You did it." I smiled to them as they left. I leaned back and just as i was shutting my eyes Luke came back in my room.

     "Ally?" He asks. I sit up and open my eyes.

     "Hmm?" I barely look at him in my tiredness.

     "Can I have the keys to your apartment? Our reservations in the hotel fell through." He says awkwardly.

     "In the bag. On the chair," I motion to the chair in the corner. Luke rifels through it for a few seconds.

     "I cant find them." He mutters.

     "Do i have to get out of this damn bed and come look?" I mummble back to him.

     "Got em!" He says quickly, twirling the keys around on his finger.

     "Great. Now get out!" I say laughing slightly. He comes and kisses my cheek.

      'Bye sis." He says and leaves. Now, I finally get my sleep.
